Getting to World 9 in Famicom Disk System SMB2

In the original Famicom Disk System game Super Mario Bros. 2 (released only in Japan), would entering one or more warp zones between Worlds 1 and 8 disqualify you from entering World 9 after completing World 8?

Let's see how many people get this right. This I say must be one of the biggest misconceptions in the gaming community. Note that I am speaking only of the original Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros. 2 (which would later be re-released in modified form as Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels as part of the Super Mario All-Stars package).
