Colossal Kaiju Combat
Hello MrWhite! My name is Simon Strange - I'm the primary creator behind Colossal Kaiju Combat. I was directed to your post here, and I thought I'd answer your questions personally.
First things first - CKC is not yet available. We are hoping to be on Early Access before the end of this month - that will allow people to start playing it in an unfinished state. The game will NOT be done this month - but we are very community-driven, and I wanted to start getting feedback from our fans. It will cost $5 to play the Early Access - but after a few months we will officially launch the game for free. The $5 fee is to limit those early players to only people interested in helping us finish the project - not people who are expecting a finished game!
But CKC is a lot more than just that first release - we are also a big community of monster-desginers, fan-votes, and other things. We have a lovely community at kaijucombat dot com (I can't post a link, as I'm new here) - plenty of people there would be happy to answer any questions you might have, and help direct you to other resources.
We are designing the franchise as a group - our design documents are online in a wiki - link is at the top of the forum page - Especially check out section #5 - the official monster list.
If you have any questions about timing - the FAQ section of our forums has a number of posts to answer your questions. The "what's happening when?" post goes into detail about our schedule, and the "how do I get my monster into CKC?" post details the steps necessary for submitting an original monster.
If you like, we also produce a series of Trading Cards featuring original monsters designed by our community - think baseball cards, but with kaiju! There is even a card game you can use to battle the characters against one another, if you have a friend you like to play tabletop games with.
If you come to the site, you can also sign up for our bi-weekly update newsletter. It contains hidden (and not-hidden) opportunities to win "Kaiju Coins" - which you can use to earn community rewards.
Yes - there is a lot to this project! And you're welcome to just wait a few months until we're available to the public. But if you have any interest in joining the community, I would encourage you to do so!

Okay, now I'm a tiny bit intrigued. What exactly is CKC? Is it a fighting game with monsters, akin to that one Destroy Them All Godzilla game? Or is it more like Monster Hunter? Or something else entirely?

Skype is the same as my username. Always looking to meet new people and make friends! So add away if you like nerdy stuff like games and anime.
My Steam name is SirMaximusOwnage. Again, feel free to add me.
It is VERY similar to Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee and Godzilla: Save the Earth. (I designed & developed both of those games.)
I have licensed the Spigot engine back from Pipeworks, and we're using several old team-mates of mine from those older games. Along with art direction by Matt Frank - Godzilla artist par excellance.
If you come visit the forums, folks can walk you though all the info.
