Note: I have never played the original First and Second Encounter. I have Serious Sam (Xbox) and Serious Sam 2 (Xbox & PC)

I've beaten both Serious Sam games. The first one was awesome, kept me on my toes, and it was fun. The second one was not as great since it had a different engine, flow of gameplay, and it focused more on comedy, but it was still enjoyable.

I got Serious Sam 3 on PS3 as soon as I saw it on gamefaqs. I watched all of the trailers and screenshots on Steam. Once it was done installing, it was time to see it first hand.
Sam Stone's new design may take some getting used to since I've played the Xbox games a lot. A good thing is that John J. Dick is still voicing him again. I listened to the soundtrack a couple days before to learn that Undercode was returning (Enlightening the World being my favorite song from the first game).
Blood options are as folllows (gibs included):
Red (meat chunks)
Green (meat chunks)
Hippie (flowers, fruits, vegetables, etc.
NEW: Kid (lollipops and star stickers?)
This first impression focuses on the first level of the game. So we have cinematic cutscenes and gameplay modeled like modern FPS games. The atmosphere feels like any generic post apocalyptic sort of thing. The Gnaars are back and you can rip them apart with your bare hands. It was disappointing not being able to fight them in the second game even though they were in cutscenes. The headless cyborg zombies also return and you have a Sledgehammer. The Kleers also make their return and they're just as annoying as they've always been. I hate the kleers. One complaint is that I don't have a shotgun to take them out quicker.
The next level contains dark rooms and a flashlight. I'm guessing jump scares will be present during gameplay. So far, the game looks alright I guess. Once I get to the Egypt levels, the game will really start to pick up once the Nostalgia sets in.

From what I've played, the console port is very similar to the originals, they just mixed it up a little and threw some stuff from SE into the FE levels. Aside from the screen tearing, I liked the console version a lot more than the PC one; they changed the scoring system and the HUD to feel a lot more arcadey.
