I am aware that you can buy them off of Amazon, but I would like to know in general if there are any shops or stores or whatnot that sell PC games other than the handful of very recent ones you can find in BestBuy.

Steam. Most PC games can be downloaded through steam now andm ost of them require steam to play, even if you do have the physical CD.

Homeworld is an older game that came out around 2000 so I' not sure if
it's available for DL on Steam. The remake certainly will be when it comes out within the next year or two.

The problem with PC games is that, these days, they're almost NEVER sold in stores. Only a very, very small number of the overall recent games is ever taken to stores. 95% of them, you have to get online. And that's fine.... the ACTUAL selection is very dramatically bigger than what you'll ever see at Best Buy or any physical store.

However.... after a quick look around myself, you'll have a harder time with this than with most games. And you can thank Activision for that. Wether or not games are available at all is, of course, up to the developers or publishers. Activision has ignored this for the most part. After all, it's not a hyper-recent AAA game that'll print money for them. Yet another wonderful happy move from one of the most awful publishers there ever was.

It would appear, however, that the second game can for whatever reason be found on Desura, which is a service similar to Steam. Or at least it looks like it, I'm not familiar with the game whatsoever, so for all I know it could be something else with the same name.

Unfortunately though, some blazing dolt seems to have left some sort of hideous bug within one of Desura's recent patches; the thing now tries to update so hard that it just turns itself off and on repeatedly every 2 seconds or so. So that might be a potential issue. Sigh. Perhaps you may have better luck with it. This is why I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate when things auto-patch themselves. The vast majority of the time, I DONT want them to patch, for this reason.

Homeworld 1??? Wow, I can't tell you how many countless hours of enjoyment I got out of that game. The graphics, by today's standards, are more than a bit dated, but at the time they were fantastic, and the attention to detail was really second to none. At the time, the closest you could get to a "Return of the Jedi" type battle on your PC.
