With new entries to Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark and Silent Hill planned, this has been a great year for horror, not to mention, the games Alien: Isolation and The Evil Within will be released really soon too.

For years, I loved this sub-category devoted to horror, but felt certain later sequels like RE4, 5 and 6 lacked that RE feel of old (like we experienced in RE2). Silent Hill has been a bit so-so and the 2008 AITD was just rather bland. Dead Space to me is just RE in space, but with alien enemies.

Maybe you're letting your excitement get the best of you... and maybe i too am getting a bit excited. Not to play them, but to see how they'll turn out and affect the genre making leading examples or lessons in failure.

I used to play the PC game F.E.A.R. It was a pretty good horror game as was Clive Barker's Undying.

I've just finished Resident Evil 4 HD which I'd never played before. Really good game would recommend it!

RE4 was out in 2005. I bought it for the GameCube then got the PS2 version to play Separate Ways (essentially all of RE4 but you play as Ada Wong instead of Leon).

I don't do horror games. The real world right now is horrifying enough. I just want to see my Sims be able to go out into their world and be happy and successful since I can't be that in real life. :(

Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games ever made and Fear beats almost every first person shooter on the market today in terms of gameplay. Resident evil code Veronica X is a true horror game, horror and first person shooters aren't what they used to be.

Well, I have the PS3 version of The Evil Within because it come in the post today, but I still cannot go back to my flat and that is where my PS3 is. It looks darn creepy. Very Silent Hill like, in fact!

The Playable Teaser was kinda crappy as far as game play. I hope Silent Hills is better than that. The good points were that it was really creepy and messed up and the graphics were pretty top notch for the most part. I really like the new brand of horror that's coming. Slender (bring on the haters) was a good start to new horror games and then Outlast was a blast. I like how you don't need to or can't fight back. We see more surprises and jumps now than ever before. I want The Evil Within, but I'm holding off for now as I'm low on funds. There has been some disappointments. For instance Daylight. That game was terrible. A complete waste of $10. Very dull. Very easy. Pointless. Amnesia was good, too.

Can't wait for Until Dawn to come out next year. That and H1Z1, which I'm pretty sure at this point is releasing next year. At least for Ps4.
