Should I get the game or not? I've heard really bad reviews about and I know it's not finished, but I love the AC games and would hate to skip one.

I wouldnt.

Having heard about this one and having read up on it, this one sounds more like a blatant cash grab than anything else. Hell, there's apparently content that you cannot unlock without playing a special mobile app along with it. Which is itself apparently hideously buggy, I hear, and can cause goofy problems. In addition to the game itself being hideously buggy. Other things are often sealed up with the requirement of multiplayer in order to unlock them at all.

It's apparently very prone to crashing too, among a pile of other glitches. I hear the story is also really blah.

With Ubisoft products, you really need to be rather careful with them. They're no EA, but they're not the nicest company either, and they will in fact do at least a bit of the sort of "dirty" techniques that EA is so fond of.

For example.... microtransactions. The plague of online and mobile games. This game, a full-priced retail release, contains many of them, apparently. THAT is a big no-no in game design. You either charge full price up front, or you use a pay 2 play model... NEVER both at once. Never. But they'll happily do so, because they can get away with it. In other words, to do many things in the game, it will cost you well more than that initial price.

It's not the first time they've pulled this crap either. One of my absolute favorite recent games is Anno 2070, which is... just brilliant. When the SimCity debacle happened due to EA's evil greed, Anno 2070 entirely replaced it for me. I'd been quite looking forward to future games in the series.

....until the next game actually showed up. Guess what it was? A microtransaction plagued browser game, complete with MANY "freemium" aspects... if you know what THAT is, you likely know why it's BAD. For example, TIMERS. The sort that you have to use premium currency on to speed up. THOSE things are pretty awful as it is. But they just kept going further with the chasm of crap that was the next Anno. And hell, a BROWSER game! 2070 was a high-budget full-scale release that appeared even on Steam! It just got worse from there.

Lately I just try to pretend Ubisoft doesnt exist. They're no EA, but they're getting ever closer.

I'm still stuck on AC3 and HATE IT.

I didn't get an achievement because it's bugged. Only option is to start a new game and do the steps in a particular way. I just lost interest in doing that right now. My OCD makes me want to do the achievement, but I just don't feel like pouring the time into it at this moment.

I don't think the AC series is getting any better as time goes on.

I'm still debating whether or not to go back to it....it's glitchy as hell, the combat is wonky, the story is less interesting than AC3's and there are tons of chests that can't be opened unless you sign up for some website and also play a companion app. Not cool Ubisoft....thankfully I only have Unity because it was free with my Xbox One. I'd say rent it if you're even a little interested/curious, but it really isn't very good...

Well, 4 and Rogue were way better than 3 and Liberation were. Unity looks good, but with its buggy state I'm going to hold off on getting it until next year. Hopefully the bugs are ironed out by the time I buy a PS4.

I've heard nothing but bad things about it. Don't buy it.
