Title says it all,

Steam is having a sale from now until January 4th and as such, I want to know,

Image
what are you buying?

Personally I am trying to save money and am limiting how much I spend on drugs and games, not that the two are related but they are both money holes. So I might buy a few dollar titles but nothing much, adding a lot of titles to my wish list though from the discovery queue for later sales.

I can't resist, I am addicted to steam; its like the crack of gaming lol

anyway here is the damage report,

Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
2.49 USD
Heretic/Hexen Pack
3.39 USD
Fable Anniversary
6.99 USD
Total:
12.87 USD

I already own Nexus, good game, just getting a digital copy cause I tend to not keep physical media anymore and have sold most of my physical disc. Heretic and Hexen I don't think I ever owned legally so thats for the wads mainly and Fable Anniversary was on my wish list for a while. I played the original on steam for about 10ish or so hours so I figured I can check out the rerelease.

It seems some publishers have not dropped their games as low as they've been before, though I'm suspecting that is because their own services are having sales. But still, not dropping a game as low as it's been before is pretty lame.

I agree, I haven't been overly impressed with this sale myself. Thus I doubt I'll get anymore but I have a few titles I am monitoring for a price drop. The thing is, they don't seem to be doing the daily deals on top of the sale so yeah, its pretty lame.

In my case, it doesnt really matter how much I spend; nobody in the family seems to A: notice or B: care.

So theoretically I could buy all sorts of awesome stuff here.... but oddly, I've bought nothing. This being because I've FOUND nothing. Lack of good stuff to buy and as always the store's godawful sale interface just repeats the same very few titles over and over and over and over again.

The dumb part is, MOST of the games that it's repeating are games that I specifically have marked as NOT INTERESTED, GO AWAY. But it continues to do it anyway. It's irritating. You damn thing, I'm NOT going to buy CounterStrike: Single Map of Boredom no matter how many times you wave it at me, so STOP DOING IT. Uuuuugh.

Really, this sale is TERRIBLE so far compared to... absolutely every single previous one they've ever done. Their stupid policy changes regarding this have really ruined it.

I'm not expecting to buy a single thing for the remainder of the sale.

I bought FFVII for $6.

I wanted FFXIII Trilogy, but each are 60GB downloads and I don't have the speeds on DSL to download them within a day.

Got paid today, bored, brought Castlevania Mirror of Fate on the cheap.

Its metroidvania style and SotN was the only Castlevania that I got into so I give it a 8/10 so far, pretty good. I find Castlevania to be great when they don't stray from the metroidvania style of gameplay.

I ended up buying a couple of indie shmups, but.... that's really it.

Ugh. Whole thing, really disappointing so far. And the interface is so freaking annoying. If I've already listed a game as "not interested", DONT show it to me TWICE on the same damn screen. Argh.

And half the things it's showing me are RPGs of all things. JRPGs usually, which is even worse. Why in the bloody hell it's waving so many of those at me... I dont know.

I tend to buy a lot during the big yearly sales and not much otherwise. So I got Divinity: Original Sin, Starbound, Dungeon of the Endless, Transistor, and a couple others that will last me for quite awhile.
