I didn't see a thread on it...

Last night Sakurai announced the last batch of DLC for Smash.

First new character announced Corrin from FE: Fates:

Corrin does not get a stage, but does get music and trophies.

Second new character and the winner of the global smash ballot is everyone's favorite British Witch Bayonetta!.



Both new characters are due out in February with trophies and music from their game.
Said Witch also gets a stage from the first level of her first game, yes the angels appear in the stage too.
These two new characters release in February 2016!

Cloud Strife is out now (well last night) with his Midgar Stage and music
m***et stage has a special twist: collecting the Materia brings out the special Final Fantasy summons, which affect the stage in various ways

Amiibo

Ryu, Roy and Famicom ROB will launch on March 18, 2016 in North America!
The three new characters will have Amiibo, but no date was given for them.


Mii Costumes

The Chocobo Hat will be available along with a Geno costume later today.
Also along in February 2016: Bionic Armor, Takamaru, Ashley, The Tower of Druaga's Gil, Tails, Knuckles. QR codes are available for existing Mii costumes to create lookalikes, such as the Inklings.

I'm most excited for Corrin and the female alternate.
I was slack jawed watching the intro to that direct.
I'm hyped. Cant wait for FE Fates.

Haven't played much of Bayonetta's games but her animated movie Bloody Fate was neat. Nice to see her get some more recognition.

Corrin looks very cool but man, this is a lot of Fire Emblem characters. Should be great promotion for the Fire Emblem game though. Hard to believe this is the end of the Smash DLC. =[

I'll eventually get all of them, but I'm going to get Bayonnetta and Cloud in February at the same time first.

I facedesked hard at these, mostly the Fire Emblem one. I've gone BEYOND hate when it comes to that series now.

...are these the result of the mysterious Smash Ballot? Or is that somehow still coming? I'd like to hope it is and there's someone not yet announced, but something tells me I'm going to be hugely disappointed in this one.

Either way, I desire none of these characters. I bought Ryu because it was just too damn hilarious not to, and it looks like he'll remain the one and only DLC character I ever buy for this game. Feh, very disappointed really. Especially after all that endless crap about the Smash Ballot.

EDIT: Ugh, Cloud is out already? You know, I was going to maybe go online with the game tonight. ....Splatoon instead, then. Dont have the patience to fight armies of one damn character right now.

Bayonetta won the Smash Ballot as #1 voted globally and was the only character that was realizable enough to create.

The other characters weren't worth it because they didn't have enough votes and/or reason to be in Smash.
Most wouldn't have been worth the money to create, cause they wouldn't sell well.

Ugh, well, that answers that at least. Well, that's disappointing. Though in all honesty in recent times I just sorta automatically associate "DLC" with "disappointment" now considering what alot of developers/publishers are doing with it, so I hadnt exactly had high hopes for this to begin with. I'd expected the result to be dramatically stupider actually, since you're right, tons of possible characters just wouldnt sell.

This kinda makes me wonder though what the bloody point of the damn thing was to begin with. They coulda figured this one out on their own.

Well, no need to buy any more DLC in my case then. Got Ryu, got.... one stage that I forget, no point in buying other stages since they go unused, bah. "No items, Fox only... Final Destination" indeed, as always. Feh.

The whole point of it was to eliminate negative feedback from the customers.
A lot of people in the West claimed that Nintendo and Sakurai only care about Japan and exclude what the West wants from Smash.
A lot of people from all over complained that Sakurai and Nintendo kept forcing characters that no one wants and where out of touch.

So after 15 years and 4 games later, Sakurai and Nintendo decided to let people pick a character to shut them up!
So after Cloud (he was the most demanded character ever for Smash), Japan/Asia chose Bayonetta as their number #1 pick, EU did the same, and NA put Bayonetta in the top 5.

Bayonetta received tons of positive press as did the Smash Ballot and enough people were going to buy here to warrant the cost of development.
Thus took the wind out of all the whiny people.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the other top picks from Smash Ballot are in the next game.

I'm getting Cloud first, no questions asked, and then Corrin.

Sakauri stated only 1.8M people voted in the Smash Ballot in his new interview in the new Famitsu.

Both characters are dropping on February 3rd in Japan and the U.S., and the 4th in EU.
