Microsoft
What I Expect - The usual. Quantum whatever. Zombies, guns, cars, and some indie game.
What I Want - Gears 4 to look fun enough to bring me back into the series ; A new IP that's something really innovative. Halo Wars 2 to get it right this time
What I Really Want - Rare to be good again and make a legit Banjo game.

Sony
What I Expect - Last Guardian to be really good. No Man Sky is beautiful. Good games across the board. Virtual reality.
What I Want - Last Guardian to be released soon. Just a taste of Shenmue 3. No PS4.5 announcement.
What I Really Want - A new Jak game, or some really cool new IP that's not a shooter.

Nintendo
What I Expect - No NX. Just Zelda and nothing else. The good news is that Zelda is my favorite series.
What I Want - The new Zelda presentation to reveal enough about the game to excite me but not to reveal too many surprises. And a title.
What I Really Want - To be reassured that Nintendo didn't go over their heads and make an overworld that's too big to fill with unique content.

EA
What I Expect - Mirror's Edge 2. Some sports. Titanfall 2 has some improvements.
What I Want - Actually informative Mass Effect footage. Battlefield 1 lives up to the trailer hype.
What I Really Want - To see more of that Burnout-like open world game with skiing and helicopters and such

Ubisoft - Yawn
Bethesda - Not into Dishonored.
Rockstar - Can't wait. Probably gonna be a classic.
Capcom - Zombies lol
Valve - Half Life 5. Hahah. Not really
Square Enix - Final Fantasy 15 can go one of two ways. Kingdom Hearts 3 will hopefully be more than a rehash.

My top 10 games I'll be looking out for.

Legend of Zelda
Rockstar's new game
Mass Effect A
Gears of War 4
Titanfall 2
Burnout project
The Last Guardian
Kingdom Hearts 3
Shenmue 3
Mirror's Edge 2

Far as I'm concerned, the whole event is mostly just a joke now. Usually the same things every year. I mostly just watch it for the comedy value, as it rarely shows anything I'm going to at all care about. Actually I cant remember the last time it showed ANYTHING I cared about.

If there's a bit of detail about the NX from Nintendo, that might be nice.

The only "big" game I have even a remote interest in is No Man's Sky (PC version though), and considering the time taken and strange delays and all, I'll believe that game exists only when it comes out (really, it's delayed three weeks before release? Seriously?). Not interested in footage of it. I suspect we're not going to see REAL gameplay footage until it actually comes out. Some devs do that.

Beyond that I really dont care much. But I'll still watch for potential hilarity. There's always some at these events. Also so that I'll at least know what in the bloody hell my friends are rambling about when they inevitably start going on and on and on about whatever big AAA cutscene festival is going to be the Big One next.

I'm into niche games and the PS Vita, and E3 will rarely touch on them, so in that respects I'm not expecting any good news for the Vita, that way I won't be disappointed.

That said, XSEED are showing playable demos of Fate/Extella and Akiba's Beat whcih is nice considering Japan won't get them till the holiday season, though no Net High or Valkyrie Drive announced yet makes me a sad panda. Physical copies of Shantae though is a huge plus, and an OST too!

SEGA/Atlus also have Persona 5 and Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X which will hopefully turn out to be great games. I'm interested in Yakuza 0 so I may pick that up to get into the Yakuza series, likewise 7th Dragon III. I'm disappointed that Atlus didn't announce a localisation of Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen and unless it's announced at E3, it's safe to assume both that and the sequel will remain Japanese exclusive. However, I would love an Etrian V announcement considering that it releases in Japan this August.

Idea Factory have announced nothing yet, but I'm hoping for a surprise otome game announcement or Black Rose Valkyrie. On a related note, I would also be interested in a release date for the Asian English release of Moero Crystal, which was developed by their parent company although IFI aren't localising it. That's Sony.

Bamco may surprise us with a Western release of Gundam Breaker 3, Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers and The Asterik War PS Vita game. The latter has a trademark in Europe. Outside hopes of Digimon World Next Order would also be brilliant too.

Square Enix I'm hoping for a Dragon Quest Heroes II announcement, but that's really it. Nothing they are bringing over this year asides from Builders and KH2.8 interests me. The only other game, I am Setsuna, isn't even getting a Vita release outisde of Japan.

I used to be quite into Nintendo but they don't understand their market at all anymore. One playable game for the whole of the biggest gaming event of the year is a massive joke, no matter how big the name it is. I'm open to be proven wrong though, like osme surprise NX details even though they've already said no to that.

I really have no interest in Western games that much, hence no Xbone or AAA firm predictions. This event is so Western it puts me to sleep in some respects. The Watch Dogs 2 trailer made me cringe. That said, I still have a couple of Western games I'd like to pick up when I get a PS4.

I'm hoping we see some gameplay footage or a trailer for Persona 5. Last Guardian I'm expecting, but I wouldn't be surprised if what they show looks disappointing. I hope it's actually good, but I worry that the long development time bodes poorly for it. I'd also be interested to see if Naughty Dog have anything new to show, either a new IP or a followup to The Last of Us.

I'm mostly interested in anything Valve has to show, and any upcoming games for VR. I hope that Microsoft have not partnered with Facebook for its upcoming console as rumoured, as I think this will have a negative effect on VR going forward as a whole and could lead to more anti-consumer practices.

I expect Sony to debut their new Ps4 Neo ( or whatever they decide to call it ).

I suspect the only real reason why so many games are being pushed to 2017 is because they will be " Neo " exclusive.

Yup, I think Sony will go off the deep end.

I hate to burst your bubble but these two companies aren't at E3 this year...

EA is holding it's own conference separate from E3 and has promised to show games planned for 2018.

Activision is promising to show off their new games at their conference, which is not at E3. Though I would expect a Call of Duty Trailer at Sony Booth.

Microsoft is promising to show their holiday line up and future games. Though they won't say which music star they've hired to perform at their conference.
Microsoft is teasing new Hardware on Twitter.

Sony is promising to go PSVR crazy and show "4K" content which will be most movies and TV Shows since it's hard to make a 4K game.
Sony is teasing new hardware (which has been leaked as PS4K already).

Bethesda is announcing a new game which is rumored to be Skyrim Remake for PS4 and Xbox One.

Square-Enix is showing FFXII HD, FFXV, and FFVIIR
They are rumored to be showing Star Ocean 5 and KH2.8.

Ubisoft is showing new content for The Division and unveiling Watch Dogs 2 set in San Fransisco

Apple is rumored to stop by and show something off ahead of their WWDC keynote later in the week.

Nintendo's Treehouse Live Day 1 is showing Pokemon Sun and Moon first thing at 9AM PT/12PM ET on Tuesday, followed by Zelda unveil and streaming for the rest of the day.

Nintendo's Treehouse Live Day 2 is Zelda, #FE Tokyo Mirage (Wii U), Dragon Quest VIIR (3DS), Dragon Quest VIIIR (3DS), Monster Hunter Generations, Yoki Watch 2, and many other games for 3DS and Wii U

Nintendo is also have a big 3DS and Wii U digital sale starting Tuesday and running until the 21st.
They are giving away special rewards to all My Nintendo Rewards Members for buying certain games.

I expect gamers to whine non-stop that E3 doesn't show 100 percent games they love. People still don't get the concept of E3- its for the big names more than the indies. There is plenty of indie events all year, why must E3 instantly change to indie stuff because people whine? People just need something to complain about. Don't watch it- PROBLEM SOLVED! Do stuff you enjoy.

Anyway.. I don't usually watch E3 much. Better announcements and reveals happen a ton at other times in the year. Plus I don't follow many new games anymore.

Honestly it's hard to be excited for games that won't even be releasing this year.

Aye, this too.

Frankly, I find it hard enough to be excited for games that are releasing this MONTH.

If they're like, a couple of days away, then I'll give a damn. But other than that... no.

Getting excited for anything that's any further off seems a waste of time. Like bloody No Man's Sky. That WAS three weeks off. Now it's two months off. Just another good example of why I tend to just not care until JUST before something actually does release. Once you're only a couple days away, it's much too late to push forth another delay.

While I am interested in hearing a bit about the NX (if Nintendo should do it there) that's just out of sheerest curiosity. I know the thing isnt coming for awhile and dont particularly care about that fact; I'm quite pleased with my Wii U really. I'd just like to know what in the bloody hell the NX even is.

Or, maybe they DO want to watch it and enjoy part of it. People dont always 100% enjoy every single tiny bloody bit of EVERYTHING.

If they want to complain about that 1% that they dont like (or whatever percentage).... they're allowed to. Just as you're allowed to talk about their complaining. While it's hard of course to avoid hearing about stuff like E3-related complaints IRL (cant just hit mute buttons on friends, after all...) on the Net, all you have to do is not click on related things in forums or other places... and those things and places are likely to become very, very obvious as soon as the event begins.

Though it seems that some sites dont care as much as they used to, which is.... interesting. And amusing. But interesting.

The same can apply to Japanese games in that they don't get the spotlight (bar a few exceptions) and you have to go to other events to find out about them. I'm not expecting Sony's E3 conference to feature games like Senran Kagura but at the same time some diversity outside of Square Enix would be a plus. Not everything is just AAA Western and indie in the games industry.

Plus, when you're really wanting a game to get translated that dosen't for whatever reason, then you'll understand one reason why people get upset about their most wanted games not appearing.

Alright- I stand corrected: AAA, niche titles (not always indie) and indies. Either way.. people don't understand what E3 is, so they complain anyway. There is zero good reason for E3 to spotlight indy stuff, because one of the purposes of E3 is to showcase the more mainstream (AAA games mainly).. its how its usually been! Sure they could change, but why? Like I said before- there is plenty of conventions for indie games and the rest.

Let's just guess here- if E3 spotlighted everything, how could they reasonably do it? If they did a little bit of each type of game each day.. I guess it could work. But realistically- I doubt E3 will be the event niche and indie game fans like a lot. I still stand firmly by my "complain to complain" quote above. People act like gaming is horrible because of this or that, but its not hard to focus on the stuff you like.

They arent forcing you to watch. They arent forcing you to buy the games you don't like. (This is similar to how people bash movies they've never seen, just over how the plot looks or the actors or whatever). Fine- watch E3 for what you want, but don't act surprised if it has a lot of junk in it you dont want. Ignore that stuff and move on. Its a simple concept.

Agreed.

Not that I'm into Japanese games much (only a very few) but friends of mine sure are. I cant imagine they'll watch any of E3 aside from perhaps humorous clips of it.

Maybe TGS has more of this stuff than E3? I dont think I've ever actually seen it myself, so not sure. Maybe I should try to catch it this year. Might prove... educational. September, it says. Bit of a ways off yet.

Yeah TGS is more the show for Japanese games, but most Japanese developers with a large western publishing presence can still be expected to show up for E3 (ie. Square Enix, pre-pachinko Konami).

*snort* Pre-pachinko.

I remember a time when Konami was one hell of a publisher, putting out constant awesome.... but that was bloody decades ago. When did they change so drastically? Granted, I know there's more to that company than just gaming. But still. The contrast from what that part of them used to be, and what it is now, is bloody shocking. And they dont seem to even NOTICE the unending backlash they get.

Baffling.

Of course, there's been other stories like that... I remember still the days when bloody Activision was amazing. That was an even longer time ago... my memories of that one may be there but they are fuzzy. I still have and play all of their games from that particular time period to this day, despite them being ancient. Nowadays though, well.... I doubt I even need to explain.

Or EA... I dont actually remember too much about their earlier days myself. But their "origin story" is pretty interesting.

Fair play. Even a sizzle real of Japanese games coming west could work though. XSEED are localising Trails of Cold Steel II, which would be a good thing to spotlight. Likewise, Fate/Extella. Or a bit of everything - ask localisers to ocme on and show their latest stuff, or some of the Japanese devs/pubs even host their own conferences. Like Kadokawa Games. They'll be hosting a conference at the same time as E3 and their lineup of in progress games is perhaps the most interesting to the niche market. Root Letter and God Wars look awesome.

With regards to TGS, I watched last years conference and there was a wide range of games unveiled. One Piece: Burning Blood, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Yakuza: Kiwami were all announced. There was a good amount of Western content too. I recall Call of Duty even made an appearance. The vast majority are Japanese, with Western content peppered here and there. Heck, Genkai Tokki Moero Crystal (a very niche fanservice game) was revealed to be getting an Asian English/Chinese release in Sony's Asian conference, and that was in a stream of a ton of other Western and Japanese games. How it should be.

I would argue E3 should be similar, but with Western content taking the lead (obviously due to the market) and Japanese content peppered and available. And I don't just mean Japanese developed games with what some would consdier a Western aesethic (ie. Dark Souls). I mean a wide range, from Persona/Dragon Quest to even some moe games (like the Touhou Project games coming to PS4/Vita and almost anything by Compile Heart).
