I've been getting into importing games a lot for my PS Vita lately so I can get physical copies and out of region exclusives (I live in Europe, so we tend get digital only releases months after the US release).

I'm fairly new to it having only been into it for a year, but I've imported a large handful from all other regions, including:
-IA/VT Colorful (highly recommended!)
-Moe Chronicle
-Final Fantasy X/X-2 Asian releases
-Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines (also highly recommended!)
-Code:Realize

Does anybody else frequently import their games and have any experiences or tips to share? Any recommendations for PS3, PS Vita or PSP? I have my eyes on a large number of rhythm games, as well as the Gundam games and Moero Crystal.

Back in the day where programmers rarely ported their games for 50hz displays properly I used to import consoles and games from the US, but thankfully that's no longer necessary. I haven't imported any games since the PS2 era.

I recall that being a thing. That plus consoles are region free. I import because not all the games I want get released physically over here.

I don't have a Vita, but I know my friends have been playing PSO2. They said they play the English translation on the PC enough to know their way around the Japanese version on the Vita.

I'm not really an MMO fan to be honest or even a PC gamer. I'd definitely be all over Phantasy Star Nova if that gets localised though.

If PSO2 isn't localised by the end of this console cycle I'll probably import the definitive collection myself. Sega are woefully incompetent these days. Their EU branch only seem to care about PC games.

I'd say it's worth getting a Vita though if Japanese and indie games on the go are your thing, Western AAA support has all but dried up for it (hence I import).

I don't like MMOs either, but I really like the first PSO. I don't know about #2, but the first game was hardly an MMO...you just had a lobby, and then you'd form a party of four (max) and have your own private game.

We mostly played the console versions offline, though. The versions after 2.0 have split-screen.

It's still a thing as Nintendo still release their Virtual Console titles in 50Hz, which is obscene.

Nintendo are so out of touch they're going to seriosuly struggle to gain back credibility with the gaming masses with NX. This isssue is just a drop in the ocean.

I've decided to import Uppers as my next game. It's am over-the-top beat-em-up with fanservice peppered throughout. It's a lower price and comes with a substantial preorder bonus so I think it's a good deal.

It's a Vita exclusive so I doubt it'll get a Western release.

I imported Tales of Vesperia for my PS3.

Better graphics than the 360 version, although I have to rely heavily on video guides due to the fact that I am not fluent in Japanese.
