I played this game as a kid when it came out on the GameBoy as Final Fantasy Legend II, and it was one of my favorites. The music was awesome (especially considering the hardware) and though it's simple the storytelling actually gets pretty good at points. I like how the villains are deranged and their actions make you have "Burning Blood", outraged and ready to open up a can of whoop-ass on them. I especially like the Venus arc, where she has created a "city of beauty" and banished anyone deemed ugly or having a disability (like Antony's leg which got injured given as the reason for throwing him out), setting up the conflict there. And then when it all goes down, Venus's series of responses to her people's pleas show more and more just how despotic, controlling, vain, and bigoted she is, and the tension builds until it boils over and you the player are aching for a fight (which the game promptly provides). Then the music goes straight from the great "Burning Blood" (燃える血潮) to the awesome "Decisive Battle" (死闘の果てに), you're really into it! Of course, what do you expect from a person who managed to collect magical treasures Relics (秘宝) for the purposes of making themselves a god, along with the other New Gods (新しき神)?

I thought the DS version was a great upgrade to the game.

Has anyone else played this game?
