What political view do you think Jesus basically would fit best in? Please provide a justification for your choice.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14: "Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind! For Elohim shall bring every work into right-ruling, including all that is hidden, whether good or whether evil."

Matthew 4:10: "YahuShua said, 'You shall worship Yahuah your Elohim, and Him alone you shall serve.'"

No politic for him, just obedience.

The sermon on the mount sounded fiscally liberal and socially very conservative.

Some have taken different interpretations of that passage. The Pharisees always asked Jesus trick questions so that however He answered, they would be able to condemn Him. Being too clever for this, Jesus gave trick answers. The trick here is that nothing belongs to Caesar; all belongs to God. He's on record condemning the rich rather vociferously and often promotes the idea of helping the poor and disadvantaged, so I certainly doubt Jesus would be a Republican. But then I doubt he'd be a Democrat either.

dunno but i kinda like this description

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully" R. Dawkins

I think the J-man was a total pinko...

Quote:
Mark 10:20-27 (English Standard Version)

20And he said to him, "Teacher,(A) all these I have kept from my youth." 21And Jesus,(B) looking at him,(C) loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go,(D) sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have(E) treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." 22(F) Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23And Jesus(G) looked around and said to his disciples, (H) "How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter(I) the kingdom of God!" 24And the disciples(J) were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, (K) "Children,(L) how difficult it is[a] to enter(M) the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter(N) the kingdom of God." 26And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him,[b] "Then who can be saved?" 27Jesus(O) looked at them and said, (P) "With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God."

You know, Gnostic Christians consider 'old testament god' and Jesus' Dad to be two different entities. 8)

Big J was no pinko

As the bolded text shows he was a benevolent monarchist, unless you kiss dads ring (either one) you're
screwed.

John 18:33-38

If the situation is that God is the king, then how would one tell the difference between the type of government being a Theocracy and a monarchy?

A theocracy would be a government imposed upon or established over an existing state or people, whereas a monarch owns the state in the first place. When the Hebrews were "delivered" from bondage in Egypt, they were freed by the monarch who owns all. Many years later, however, they mistakenly wanted an earthly king and got one, and I think that would have been a theocracy. But, I am a long way from being any kind of expert here.

DentArthurDent: Please can the "delusional fool" kind of talk unless you can at least find the humility to express it as nothing more than one mere man's mere opinion.

The generation of the time of Samuel asked for a king, and they got one. Most of the prophecies concerning the curses of having an earthly king were more fulfilled in Solomon than in Saul I think though.

Since I know so little there, I take your words as being correct.

I grew up in a "Christian" setting where people used "the bible" to argue different politics, and I have since wondered how they had become so distracted. Today it seems so clear to me that Scripture does not contain a single word about mankind ever being able to govern itself, and even the Christian's "Jesus" seemed to know that quite well!

Given he was the Son of God, he was theocratic.

The issue is that Jesus' key message to the Jews was, "You're doing it all wrong!"

They were a people obsessed with the letter of the law but totally missing the point of the spirit behind that law.

Jesus was a socialist. Paul was a Nazi.
