I'm just curious to see the debates that will ensue from "Happy Easter."

Have at it!

And on the third day he hatched again. He ascended into Chocolate. He is seated at the right hand of the Bunny, and he will come again to judge the egg painting competition.

Happy Easter all!
I don't mind if not everyone believes in Christ's resurrection, or even if it's not even relevant in everyone's lives. It's important to me and my family, and that's enough.

"Easter" is from the Babylonian fertility goddess Ishtar.

So it's actually, "Happy Firstfruits!" (Historical accuracy, FTW.)

"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep."
1 Cor 15:20 (NIV)

Paul used a double meaning there, because it was the day of the Jewish festival of Firstfruits on which Jesus rose from the dead. That timing was symbolic by God, to show what Paul says in the quoted first: that Christ was the firstfruits -- the first of the believers who will rise from the dead. Firstfruits is about harvest, the first of the crops to come out of the ground -- rising to new life. Get the connection to resurrection?

I heard from some people that he would actually be considered a lich not a zombie. Sometimes spelled liche.

That's a good point. How much HP do you figure he has? And only frost-based magicka?

I just checked out your link. Based on that, Easter might look more like Halloween!

To answer the question, I am happy to have the day off to enjoy the nice weather.

Can someone point me to one scripture where Jesus, or his apostles, clearly said to celebrate Jesus' resurrection?

It doesn't - but neither does it say we shouldn't. Christ and his Apostles did say, though, that we believers need to avoid legalism. And I would think that avoiding everything that Christ didn't explicitly command constitutes legalism.

loool I'm glad you enjoyed it. There was more than enough food for me though, so I just had a Cadbury Creme Egg after that. I haven't had em since I was a little kid, so I forgot how awesome they were lol

Jesus also said, "God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth." (John 4:24) It has been well researched that Easter comes from pagan origins. Where is the "truth" in a custom whose origins are blatantly false and against everything Jesus taught his followers?
