What do you think about feminism

It says it all in the title.

The ones who are pro-equal rights are very good. The radical, Andrea Dworkin, Germaine Greer-types, not so much.

Sometimes there is a thing some feminist states that I agree to.
There can be some other thing some feminist states that I disagree to.
I have no opinion on "feminism" as a whole, there are lots of various statements I consider separately.

For me personally, feminism has done enough and the best I can do is to have a meaningful life with the opportunities I have.

I am for equal rights and opportunities for everyone, regardless of circumstances of birth, upbringing, having well-connected relatives or friends, religion, sex, ethnicity, race, caste, or involuntary personal attributes such as disability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

I am against what currently passes for feminism, which seems to be geared toward the goal of making all men living today "pay" for the crimes committed by other men in the past -- crimes that inspired the first generation of feminists, and that were committed by men who have been dead for decades.

Define what you think "feminism" is, and I'll tell you my opinion on it.

I don't think about it very much. When asked to think about it, I appreciate being asked cordially and as an equal.

I voted unsure. I support equality and I sympathize with women who get treated like crap but I also hate modern feminists because it does seem like they are out to punish men and blame them for all the evil in this world. They accuse them all of being rapists, abusers, and murderers. It also bothers me whenever I hear women in countries like the U.S. complain about how horrible they have it when there are countries out there that treat their women MUCH worse than we do! At least American women can choose who they want to marry and divorce their husbands. American women aren't punished by their families or community when they get raped, they don't get beaten with a cane before a large crowd for commiting adultery, and they are also allowed to get an education and work the same jobs as men. Oh yes American women have it so horrible!

Edit: Oh and American women aren't forced to get their genitals mutilated either.

If you go along with the literal definition of it, it is a good thing because of equal rights but with people we have today who define themselves as feminists, it doesn't have a good name to it so I am starting to dislike feminism.

Gloria Steinem stated that feminism is the revolutionary notion that women are people.
Women have a 1 in 4 chance of being assaulted, and a 1 in 6 chance of being raped.
Women earn 22% less than a male for the same work.
Clearly, we need a lot more feminists in this world.

I remember having a conversation with my Mom and I had mentioned something about the thing I heard from some documentary on TV about there being more baby girls born than baby boys nowadays and I made a joke about how pretty soon we would be living in an Amazonian society and my Mom made the comment "That would be wonderful" but then she paused for a brief moment realizing how cruel that must sound for a mother to say that to her own son and she said "I would miss my boys though".

I think my Mom actually hates men, but she still loves her sons so saying something like that must have made her realize for a brief moment that hating men also means that she is hating her own children.

Maybe men who have daughters would feel the same way if they said something very disrespectful about women in front of them?
