Which Beatle was the best musician?

This is valid because I said so.

Clearly, one of the fab four was more philosophical than the others, and should be voted for in this forum. Because I said so!

Lennon is my favorite both as a songwriter and as a personality.

Choosing a second would be tricky. I have to reluctantly admit that McCartney did write some kick-ass songs (as a Beatle - I think he went rather downhill afterwards), but I just find him totally annoying.

I totally agree with you, Paul is annoying.

Lennon is a personal hero of mine; his music has helped me through some tough times. But I think McCartney, Harrison and even Starr are equally talented in their own ways. I don't particularly like McCartney as a human being, especially after the allegations of spousal abuse in the wake of his recent divorce. The allegations aren't necessarily true, but I'd rather side with a supposed victim and be wrong.

How come no one chose Paul McCartney? Why not Yoko Ono?

I cannot even choose. I never got all ga-ga over any particular Beatle, but for some reason I always know all the words when I encounter one of their songs...

This is true, Claire, but I want to know when say a song of Lennon's comes on the radio, or a song of Harrison's, which do you prefer? Come on, you have to have a taste for one or the other. Have you ever heard any of Yoko's music? Did you know she made it?

Honestly, if you gave me a line-up of their photos, I doubt I would be able to identify them by name. I certainly do not know one song from another as belonging to any of them. I would have had to use Google to even list all of them for your poll. We took a trip over the Easter holiday and listened to a lot of their music while driving. I thought it was funny that I still remembered so much when I had not heard many of the songs in years.

Either you're really faceblind and/or your ambivalent, which is very autistic of you, or you live in complete and utter isolation from the mainstream (which is great I think). For many years, I hated the Beatles with a passion, and still do to some extent, yet, though, I recognize George to be the backbone of the band, for his songs ROCK, and I feel that he didn't get the limelight that he deserved.

But, I see you wont partake in my idol research of other opinions and personality types --bummer dudette!

I don't have much interests in the Beatles, actually. Could someone please summarise who those artists in the thread are?

Check, check, and check, but I would have to say isolation from the mainstream could possibly be top of the list. I listen to a bit of music but watch very little tv. During my youth we only had a tiny black and white tv and I went a couple of years in my teens where I did not even once watch it. Three years ago marked the first time in my life I ever had cable, so even though I still do not watch much, I do watch much more now than I ever did since there are whole chanels devoted to things of interest.
