Are the BNP that bad?

The BNP are really about thinly-veiled racism.
Which is why I was making fun of them in a thinly-veiled way.
The BNP are more about hating Muslims (and everyone in general) and returning Britain to some whites-only dreamland. They're not really living in the modern world. It is the white nationalism of the xenophobes, the factory workers, the ignorant, the hateful. It's the despairing nationalism of a country in decline.
UKIP, on the other hand, are very different. Which is why they scare the established parties.

I didn't realise we indulged in slave plantations in our own country, or hanging black people, or the Klu Klux Klan.
The UK and France has a long history of participation in the slave trade, especially in the colonies. The fact you choose to do your dirty work off-shore doesn't change it. While the UK outlawed the slave trade earlier than the US (and "British North America" [later Canada] passed legislation that effectively (if gradually) abolished slavery in BNA). Ignoring many imperialistic wars and going straight to the modern era, while there was rural violence in the US, by and large racial resentment is worse in Europe today.
Too true sorry to say, in an earlier topic I pointed out how the UK has taken steps over the last few years to make a amens for our involvement in the slave trade. In Tequila's opinion I was talking a load of bollocks.

What possible good could it do? No-one who had any role whatsoever in the slave trade is alive now, and hasn't been for 150 years. What's the point of raking up old history? It serves no-one but left-wing terminal whingers.
Try and concentrate on the present rather than dwelling on events committed by very different people, in very different times under very different standards.

Now are you calling me a commie as I already been called a commie today for being a mormon?

EDIT: also, no-one hates Islamism more than I do. I separate Islamism from Muslim immigrants, though. I'm pretty conservative about immigration but I'm not in favour of 'shutting the doors'. If you want a party that's anti-immigration per se, you support UKIP.
Bang on. We're not even anti-immigration per se, we're anti-uncontrolled, mass immigration.
I'm not a UKIP supporter because although I know how corrupt the EU is, we couldn't really leave it now for economic reasons. UKIP's immigration policy is also a bit too conservative for me. My main problem is the 5 year freeze because it just wouldn't work. I'm not opposed to a points system, though.
I'm not going to argue UKIP, with you, though. I just wish everyone who supported the BNP and who isn't racist (there might be some who aren't) actually realised they are supporting the wrong party. I wish the BNP would shrink into the fringe ridiculous nonentity it deserves to be.

No, I am saying that there are people that get paid quite handsomely (through government grants and other funding) for propagating such a self-hating mindset.
The people who are alive today have nothing to do with the slave trade. The previous generation had nothing to do with the slave trade either. So who does this benefit?

We can. If they won't let us, we'll secede. We, as a sovereign nation, always have the ability to leave an organisation that doesn't suit us. If we can't leave, we're not sovereign.

We can technically, but we'd be economically screwed at first. I know we're already economically screwed, but it's really not the right time. There is a military and foreign relations benefit to be being a member also, but I think Britain should spend less time on the world stage - so I don't quite buy the whole USE thing. I'm a bit Eurosceptic but UKIP are something else! You were right about the obsession thing, it sort of puts people off.
I'm socially very liberal whereas UKIP are socially conservative.
Okay, this thread needs to get back to making fun of the BNP.

I personally wonder how happy the hard Eurosceptics will be after Europe's came out of the recession. It seems that people fall into quite a bit of heard behaviour, "everything most be obliterated", mood after reccessions.

Our popularity keeps going up, though. And that's the main thing. I don't see any serious dissent from the three main parties. They're sort of a blob, fully encumbered within the EU state without any prospect of any socially liberal policies on the horizon.

One of the worst slurs I ever read against us is that we're "like the Ulster unionists without the sense of humour".

It depends in what way you mean. Yes, UKIP does have quite a sizeable socially conservative element but there is also a large classical liberal/libertarian element in the party that kind of wants to distance itself from the Daily Mail-types. So we want to legalise cannabis, remove the absurd and damaging prohibitions and restrictions on alcohol, reduce taxes, legalise all consensual sex (and porn), that sort of thing.

Hard EU-sceptics have an issue with their nation's existence in the EU. If the EU was doing fantastic economically, you still wouldn't shut us up. We want our independence back. That is non-negotiable.
We want the same freedom to set our own laws as Canadians, Australians and Indians have.

It is the case, more or less, for every member state of the EU. Britain has gradually ceded its sovereignty to the EU, in stages, since 1973. It has only really become noticeable, though, in the last 10-15 years.
You have a system where the prime minister and government in this country pretend to be sovereign nations, capable of setting their own rules, but often cannot (as they're overruled by EU law). As well as that you also have a problem that British people are terrible rule-followers. While the French simply shrug and ignore a new EU law that it doesn't like, the British follow it to the letter even when it is very much against the country's interests to do so (the Common Fisheries Policy is one of them in that the EU has killed off our fishing industry - the Icelanders must be thanking their lucky stars that they don't have this - hell, they still haven't got over beating us in the 1970s!).
It's an insane system. I could go on forever about it. The EU is autocratic, anti-democratic, hideously expensive, and hugely corrupt.
And then there is the nakedly anti-democratic nature of the EU's elite. They'll give you referendums, but if you give them the 'wrong' answer back they'll make you vote again until you give them the 'right' one.

Yes, the BNP are that bad. The leadership is National Socialist and often ex-NF and C18.
I knew about the NF connection, but not C18. That's even better.
Before I say anything, I have to say that I am not sure why you need the EU. It never made any sense to me about an organization trying to homogenize the continent given all their differences. The Hague and the United Nations are also a joke since apparently it is only a war crime if you lose the battle and America has a habit to getting in everyone's business without permission from the UN. They won't stop us from doing whatever we want, and there was no real effort concerning Iran and look what they have now. Name one thing anyone on the Security Council got sanctioned for. We only have so many troops to kill people and solve everyone else's problems/start problems ourselves. We should not be in Libya at all, but once again we have to get involved because no one else has the spine to do things themselves.
The reason why the BNP is going after Muslims is because they are a more immediate problem than Jews, and like any party of that stature they have to capitalize on the situation and alter their hatred for something else. They have a Jewish candidate but apparently a lot of BNP members are mad at that and left (at least I saw some of that on Stormfront; there was thread with a very negative opinion about them). That says something right there.
The real key to make the BNP more successful is SOMEHOW finding a way to stop Nick Griffin from being in front of a camera. He always finds a way to put his foot in his mouth (like when he denied the Holocaust, like describing his plan at an "American supporters of the BNP" event). I just cannot believe Griffin tried to make up British law to try to not answer questions about the Holocaust. He made himself look like an incompetent idiot on Question Time. Calling the KKK non-violent is something that I do not even have words for given its history. These BNP tactics are the same ones that David Duke tried to use for the KKK (who was also at that American event): make yourselves look presentable and hide all the negative stuff under a rug. Eventually it comes out though. Duke's campaign manager told a news reporter that Duke was attacking the wrong people (I believe he went after Jews instead of blacks; he was running for office in Louisiana). In all his ineptitude, I believe Griffin was a little more successful since they actually got some seats because of bad economic conditions in the area. Duke got elected because of a fluke but did absolutely nothing while in office. Again, they are just capitalizing on the situation. The sad part is, Islam is a VERY credible threat to Europe, so (disgustingly) I have mixed feelings about this being a militant Atheist and the BNP trying to stop Islam and its radical, killer culture. Never heard of the UKIP though; I HOPE they are better based on my blind assumptions (please say yes; the BNP is trash and I hope the economy gets better quick because they will just go away).

They want to deport anyone who is non-white out of the country for starters. A pretty racist policy, that. And their association with racist violence (John Tyndall, the first leader of the BNP, was an outspoken neo-Nazi) speaks for itself.
Griffin said that wasn't the case on question time.
