As to the other, I have no use for the extreme right wing. I am inclined toward libertarian views, though I am not a libertarian. And I do not particularly like government. Governments are necessary evils. Which makes them evils.

There are obnoxious gits on all sides of the political spectrum. Frankly, I cannot bear listening to the Limbaugh thing. He is an imbecile, a blovating windbag and a purveyor of things of small value.

I am a talk show fan (or I was). Back in the day, my kind of talk show host was the late David Brudnoy who held forth on radio stations in the Boston market. He was a PhD historian, he taught at Boston University and he was one of the brightest to hold forth on the airways. Now THAT is a talk show host. And he was kind enough to have me on his program as a guest on a number of occasions.

That's just scratching the surface though. He was also saying stuff about how we need racist stereotypes to encourage our soldiers to kill their enemies and how women shouldn't be able to vote because their raging hormones make them too emotional. The Desert Eagle is fun for blasting with at the shooting range or wherever but not very practical for concealed carry.
I love the Colt 1911 design (have two of 'em) but not so much as a carry peice although I have.

How do you know what distinctions I make? And how do you determine what is arbitrary?

I will start from basics. I have no a priori duties or obligations to strangers. The only constraints I recognize is not to initiate force upon anyone and not to use force except for self defense. That is the start. The only duties or obligations I recognize are contingent. I am obliged to care for the dependent children I bring into the world and I am obliged to carry out the terms of contracts into which I have entered willingly. I recognize no other duties. I pay my taxes because if I don't I will be put in jail or have my property seized. That is simply a recognition of being outgunned by the government.

I care about my children. I do not give a damn about yours. I do not expect you to give a damn about my children. They are my concern, not yours.

I recognize a basic distinction: What is mine is mine and what is yours is yours. There is no "ours".
