What is the primary reason for disapproval of homosexuality?

It happened very recently in Tennessee. A hospital defied an executive order from Obama designating that people in hospitals should be able to grant visitation to anybody of their choosing by not allowing a woman to see her partner in the hospital.

There are states that are homophobic enough to do such things.

Sperm banks weren't around 10,000 years ago. Anyone attracted exclusively to members of the same sex couldn't pass on their genes. A tribe of homosexuals would have gone extinct in a generation. People view it (subconsciously) as maladaptive behavior.

Lots of similar things could also be considered maladaptive... like men preferring infertile women, or men preferring older women. So it's not just gayness that could be considered "maladaptive".

That is extremely rare. Few if any men between the ages of 18-40 are shacked up with old ladies unless they're getting money out of it.
