Anyway, the solution to pregnancy problems dujour is adoption. You want to know what adoption is? A business, and a sleazy one at that. And to all the adoptive parents out there that think they're doing the world a favor: think about why you wanted to adopt in the first place. You were weak. You had nothing to contribute to humanity. You're bums, nothings, scum. Why don't you all just give up and die?

I think that is pretty harsh. I don't see why people are bums and scum for being infertile.

If adoption is so bad what should happen to unwanted children then? There is always abortion but once they are born it's too late for that.

For me, it is mired in fuzzy idealism and Unfortunate Implications. The conceit all adoptive parents are saints doesn't click with me, because in my book, what selflessness is there on this f***ing planet? As a species, we're motivated entirely by self-interest; any kindness or sincerity are theatrics.
Don't be silly.

That human beings could waste their money and patience to get their hands on a child to cover for their insecurities is pathetic.

It really impresses me how you managed to get inside the minds of all parents that have adopted.

I never saw that movie and it was out 15 years after I gave mine up for adoption anyways. It would not have influenced my decision in any way no matter what it was like. I knew I didn't want kids ever and once it was born that was the only legal way to get rid of it.

I see it as a good thing. That way kids with no parents (or parents that don't want them) can have parents and people that can't have their own kids get to raise a child.

Just recently I read on the hysterectomy forum that I read about a 17 year old girl that had cervical cancer and had to already have a hysterectomy at 17. Sure she could have eggs frozen and get a surrogate since she got to keep her ovaries but why go through all that trouble when there are babies and children out there with no parents?

My two cents in the poor cancer victim's hat: f**k 'em. She had her chance, and she blew it.

What chance? She was 17 and a virgin.

I don't understand how you can think that anyone that can't have their own kids is automatically a bad parent that doesn't deserve kids or that unwanted children are better off with abusive parents that don't want them or in orphanages.

...and I don't understand how a non-biological imitation of unconditional love (like that of adoptive parents) is better than biological superiority and dominance.

Let me put it this way: adoptive parents are inferior due to a combination of bad genetics and crippling neuroses. It's more like the kid adopted them.

I had a dream once. It was grainy, hypersaturated, in black and white. There was an outline of a person, a girl. I could tell by the voice and the shape of her fingers. I knew that she was harmed psychologically by adoption. That's all I remember.

Can someone please prove me wrong? Can someone give me a shred of proof that love is not bound by genetics and nature?

Every year there are a dozen or so stories of pet owners running into burning buildings to rescue a beloved cat or dog. It is almost certain that the cat or dog is only /distantly/ related to the person risking their life.

I'm not adopted. I'm just afraid of potential infertility.
