Republicans have never been intolerant for the most part, it's that the left-wing establishment has fixed it to where people are labeled "intolerant" or "unenlightened" if they are not in full agreement with them.

Denying gay rights, or making Americans of the Muslim faith the enemy, among other issues, seems pretty intolerant to me.
And yes, I am aware that not all Republicans fall into such a category.

we have the funding for humanitarian and civil projects both at home and abroad... its all about where we spend those funds and where our priorities lie... though admittedly it seems that both parties have shown us where they fall on That issue.

War is a bad thing. It should only be fought or prepared for if necessary. The U.S. will destroy itself by being in the Forever War where we need an enemy to define ourselves.

That being said, forced charity is still theft and tyranny. Let those who want to give, give and those who want to keep what is their own to keep what is their own.

Look at the % of Republicans who say that Obama isnt a US citizen. How many still think he's a Muslim?

Yes, some GOPers are very intolerant, but there are so many people who think *all* of them (even the moderate ones) are intolerant.

The Republican Party as it exists today does not practice what it preaches. They claim to practice fiscal restraint yet spending increased exponentially. Under George Bush, and a Republican dominated Congress. Freedom does not exist to much of the republican party. They only accept you if you fit their ideals. The religious right has hijacked the republican party. And they're goal is to create a Christian centered state. Using the bible as an excuse to push the laws they want to pass. They want to ban abortion because the bible "says so". Yet no where in the bible does it say it is wrong to have an abortion. Same with contraception there is no biblical evidence to back it up. They just want to force their views on everyone else. A true conservative would be for protecting the constitution which has a separation of church and state. So by that law the bible or any religion can not be used to create laws for our nation.
