Northern Ireland is one of the last remnants of the British Empire colonies. It's a completely different problem. It's political stuff. In case you want to make a comparison with US, forget Arkansas 1957 and take the thirteen colonies around 1750. That would be accurate.

That's BS. Some negative comments about races in the XIXth century? Well, welcome to the WORLD. That happened in every bloody corner of Europe during XIXth century. Talking about races was trending topic that time. There's not a single corner in Europe that ran free of racial comments. British were looking down at Irish, French were looking down at Italians, Swedish were looking down at Finnish, Austrians were looking down at Eastern Europeans, Russian were looking down at Polish, everybody were looking down at Jews, German were looking down at everybody else and Irish... well, they were looking down at the beer's glass.
