Reckon they'd just nail him up if He come down again.

Some folks hate the whites who hate the blacks who hate the klan.

Interesting song although the part about Jesus doesn't quite line up with the historical Jesus.

BTW, thanks for signing my guestbook - I never knew Martin Luther said that. Worked a bit on my site (i/o) if you'd like to check it out again.

Thank you, Iamnotaparakeet. Few people do realize my WP handle is from a ML quote. I used to have a fierce perseveration on religions but that was years ago.
I have other ones now! LOL.
Aren't having obsessions fun? Isn't it interesting how the impulse just takes you by the scruff of your neck and forces your face into the data? I have always liked the drive and passion it gives me. But I haven't been into obsessing over religion in years.
You guys look like you are having a good time at it, though! :D

ciao!

Yeah, politicians are really big on the 'thou shalt not lie' bit aren't they?

Absolutely. Anytime they catch someone lying, they are all over it.

Isn't it sad when humans, knowing right from wrong, don't apply it first to themselves?

Some are just disgraceful and the closest I come to liking is Huckabee, but that is just based on who some of my Church friends are voting for. If I were going to vote for honesty, I would go with someone like Jay L. Wile Ph.D. Nuclear Chemistry or Dr. D Russell Humphreys. But they're not on the ballot. Minnesota sucks anyway. Sure they have Pawlenty for what good he does, but president and representative wise... my vote is wasted in this state.

so what is the payoff of doing good if it has nothing to do with the outcome of if my soul will rise or perish? why would I follow their path if not for thinking myself a sinner too and this my only way to salvation?

I would agree that humans know right and wrong even without picking up a Bible.

No

I don't hate Jesus or most Christian people, I just think some of those fundamentalists take Jesus' teachings the wrong way. I have a bible teacher is a total fundamentalist christian and I'm sure would LOVE to damn-ate every being on earth that doesn't believe in Christ like he does.

Are you insisting on a payoff for doing good? Is that what religion is all about? Some sort of a payoff in the hereafter if you convince the Deity that you've been a good boy in this life?

Does religion really amount to nothing more than spiritual materialism?
