In the US it's not done for religious reasons. It started out because at end of the 19th century they didn't want boys to masturbate because they believed it would lead to insanity and criminality and became the norm with the world wars. Christians aren't required to circumcise, that was one of the main draw points of early Christianity. Muslims aren't even really required to be circumcised, it's not mentioned in the Qur'an. Only the Jews require it, specifically 8 days after birth.

I thought it was about hygiene.

The "extent" of circumcision is more addressed for female circumcision than for male circumcision, with greater legal restrictions on the female circumcision of the same neurological anatomy. The "extent" is more concisely noted in the book "Alice Walker: A Critical Companion" by Gerri Bates (2005), page 118. Male circumcision should be illegal as is the equivalent sunna female circumcision, at least under equal protection clauses.

This just makes me chuckle. It's not gonna happen. It's a secular humanist issue, not an anti-semitic one. A sizeable minority of Jews already choose not to circumcise, some of the most outspoken anti-circumcision activists are circumcised AND Jewish. When infant circumcision is banned, the more progressive leaders will bend the traditional rules and say that due to the new laws, it is ok for the circumcision to be delayed until early adulthood. There will be one angry rabbi with a huge beard raging on all the television interviews about anti-semitism and "how this is going to lead to another holocaust" and that will be it. Finito. No more baby butchery, and no Jewish lead civil war.

Last time I knew it was the allies who won WWII.

I doubt the jews are to blame for Germany losing WWI (which Hitler put the blame on them) as well WWII.

No, it's up to the child. If the child isn't yet capable of giving his consent then it shouldn't be done, end of.

It isn't up to the child if it's aborted why would it be up to them if they are to be circumised?

Of course you want besides cirmcumsion being a religious practice is the main reason people are against it I havent met anyone who isn't against it for that main reason.

Well my being against it has nothing to do with religion or dislike of people following certain ones. My only concern is that an irreversible procedure is being done on people far too young to give consent, and many of the circumcisions done are by people who do it because that's what everyone else does.
