Halloween costume PC rules: Good idea or[expletive removed]?

Pardon the long post but I'm really curious. What do the "PC police" here, as they're called, think of people who are not black dressing up as Garnet or Sardonyx from Steven Universe?

I'm very confused as to why people are upset with non-blacks cosplaying these characters who are Gems (like the rocks) from another planet. Garnet is coded black (meaning she's modeled after African-Americans) but she's an alien. Her body is not even real. Her skin tone is like the stone, kinda dark red/pink.


Sardonyx is when Garnet merges with Pearl, who is a very pale cream, like a real pearl...


Sardonyx thus is a mix of the two, which again is like the stone:


There are people who are flat out angry and sending death threats because non-black people have dressed up like the two, equating it to blackface. One artist recently was bullied just because she changed Sardonyx's hairstyle (they called it whitewashing)
And I guess she attempted suicide or something because of the amount of hate she was receiving based on people not liking her art style, calling her all sorts of names that ultimately had no basis. I tried to find something wrong, some horrible crime, but I couldn't. She cosplayed an alien villainous character from an anime who was supposed to be some sort of mockery of a weeaboo from what I can find, and these people claimed she was "yellowfacing" because she's Filipino not Japanese and the character portrays many bad Japanese stereotypes.... so can we not cosplay villains now?

There was a post I saw today that said, "DONT!! ! ! dress up as a serial killer this halloween!! ! ! ! it is appropriating white culture!! !"
Someone else explained to the confused, "Okay look we (PoC and allies) are always trying to educate yall (typically uninformed white people sometimes PoC) about the dangers of cultural appropriation especially around Halloween with all these racist costumes and yall just laugh and don’t take us seriously so here’s us joking about part of yalls culture: serial killers. Because the majority of serial killers in America and probably the world are white. So satire punching up at the dominating race.
We aren’t saying your all bad but even if yall don’t wanna admit it this is a big part of white culture. Along with mass shooters and serial rapist." (which the stats show is completely wrong... but that's an entirely different post)

So I'm just very very confused as to why people get so frothing at the mouth upset over things like this...

Milwaukee is plurality black, something roughly like 45% black 35% white 20% hispanic and 5% asian. People don't live around each other, blacks live next to blacks and whites live next to whites and the same goes for rich and poor. There is a black part of town, a white part of town, a hispanic part of town, it's that separated. The city has changed A LOT since the 60s obviously, it probably was one of the whiter cities in America at one time but even then it was segregated between the German, Polish, and Jewish communities so it's been this way from the start. Now people segregate themselves out of the city entirely and live in the suburbs which are not friendly to poor people whatsoever. They developed in reaction to the race riots here in the 60s and the decline of manufacturing, the city is just a shell of what it was in its heyday. The black community in Milwaukee has to one of the most impoverished in the entire country, there is no middle class or any sort of leaders. The black leader I know of growing with were guys like Michael McGee and his son Jr who were nothing better than 2 bit thugs, Michael McGee Jr is in prison right now for corruption because he basically ran a protection racket against the Indian and Middle Eastern business owners in his district.

Believe it or not, Milwaukee is the only major American city to elect a Socialist mayor and was considered the birthplace of progressivism in this country yet it has still developed this way.

I can't imagine living in a place that's that segregated :/ here there are areas that are more populate with certain races than others, but there's always a mix. The block I live on has all sorts of different people on it and multiple houses where there are mixed families.

I like segregation; you avoid all the racial problems.

Uhh no you don't, segregation just increases the over-all level of racial problems in society...and how would that even work with all the mixed race couples and families. "Oh sorry only white people allowed in this restaurant you're black husband has to stay outside." 'Only white people in this amusement park, you'll have to leave your adopted Asian child home.' So yeah not only would it not actually decrease racial problems but would be terribly impractical as well.

Today we have 'voluntary segregation' where people choose to live among their own 'kind'.

This is the kind of segregation being discussed.

It's not as bad as it use to be racially in the city but that's more because almost everyone with money has left, the only reason they maintain any tax base is because they have a residency requirement for city workers. It's sort of unspoken self segregation; the rich separate from the poor and poor whites/blacks/hispanics all seperate from themselves. The areas of violence are hyper-concentrated and probably some of the more dangerous areas in the country. They have school choice and busing all around the city which sent the white flight into the overdrive, the schools are a joke some of the worst in the country. The surrounding suburbs will fight any attempt at building affordable housing or anything that could invite in "low income" people because it will hurt housing prices. It's broken and I don't think it can be fixed. The reality is you can't force people to live around each other, you can't force diversity, that's the biggest failure of desegregation since it only focused on the racial aspect. Just putting people around each other isn't going to solve anything. Raise people out of poverty and it won't be an issue, if Milwaukee have the strong industrial union working base of its heyday then things would be different.

Apple Valley is also the first layer of hell in the high desert. To people of the high desert (or cities of the damned) the hierarchy is as follows: Apply Valley, Victorville, Hesperia, Adelanto with adelanto being the final level. But to its virtues Apple Valley is the most organized and least corrupt town of the High Desert. Neighboring towns such as Hesteria (Hesperia), Victimville (Victorville) and ghettolanto (adelanto) idolize the city for its organization, growth, rule of law. Composed mostly of the wealthy high desert dwellers it is the envy of other cities in the area.

The foremost lamest piece of crap town I've ever known in the history of for-f***n' ever. The roads are crappy, the people are stupid, the houses are multiplying and the weather is ridiculously shifty, you never know exactly what season tomorrow will be due to the local climate and circumstances. Many believe it was built on an Indian burial ground and that could be indeed the reason as to why the clouds sometimes just flat-out circle this hell of a city and pass us by without the rain we want. There isn't a movie theatre, major arcade, large pizza place or drive-in theatre in the town. The city also goes dead after about 8 p.m. because nobody here likes having fun or doing anything in public. Most adults here work either in the small shops, diners, small businesses or for the school/park district. Oh, and half this city is full of f***tards!! !

So where in the U.S. are children being legally penalized for dressing in certain costumes?

If they aren't, then this is, as I've already stated, is a non-issue. Seriously, people, unglue yourselves from social media and the shrieking massives found within.

You think people should wait until a bad idea actually becomes law to challenge it?

I think what I'm going to do is print out a bunch of these "we're a culture not a costume" flyers, punch holes in them, and slip a lollipop through the holes.

Then if I see a kid in an un-PC costume, I can still give them candy, but they'll be learning a valuable lesson at the same time.
