public bad, private good... what a ridiculous stereotype that defies logic. I try to explain to people that profitable state-run firms means more state revenues and less taxes (or the profits are forgone in favour of lower prices), and contracting government functions to private companies, or selling off a public company, means a new cut of profits to give to said private concerns...

Democrats were the party of the south because the Republicans were the party of Lincoln, the Radical Reconstruction, and so forth. The process of switching the south really only began after the Civil War centennial... Richard Nixon's southern strategy, and Wallace's taking the south as a "Dixiecrat" in 1968...

Now that I remember rightly, the Republican Barry Goldwater took the Deep South in 1964 after Johnson signed civil rights and Goldwater went on about "States' rights" and embraced those people who spoke in this way down in the south.

-------------

One thing about stereotypes... I think a lot of people wondered why that Cohen character chose Kazakhstan for his Borat... the answer is simple. Kazakhstan is the one place that allows him to use both anti-Russian/Slav and anti-Muslim stereotypes... the ultimate evil of both, supposedly, is that they hate Jews... the biggest sin of them all.

Actually it is obvious the Republicans are doing a major amount of whining these days.

Liberals are bigger cry babies than Conservatives. It could explain why Conservatives are happier in their life than liberals. Constantly crying about something can't be too good for someones emotional health.

Or perhaps liberals are aware that there are a lot of things that need fixing and are trying to do something about it. Energetic politics can be very emotionally satisfying.

I have no problem with people's dietary choices. I have a big, fat problem with people who place a moral validity on their dietary choices and then cast judgment on others for not falling in line with what they believe.

Sure enough. If you enjoy eating spiders, giraffes, mulched toilet paper or babies, it's none of my concern.

Human fetuses aren't eaten.

As far as animals go: I'd rather every animal on the earth eaten rather than one person go hungry. If cats and dogs are their meat-source of choice, I'm not one to judge it.

I'm not here to judge either but overpopulation is part of what causes shortages in food. If humans outnumber animals....then I think it's safe to say we're doomed as far as the imbalance of the foodchain goes thus no meat.

Anyway, I think PETA is a little over the edge imo. Use to seem practical at one time but now it's getting ridiculous as far as the exploitation of animals are concerned.

How about private bad, public worse?

We should have as little public possible, consistent with order and peace. Since governments tend to socialize losses there is less control over government's lossy behavior.

Getting rid of a private business is relatively easy. Just don't do business with it. Don't buy what they sell. Without a shot being fired they bo bankrupt. With governments you need bloody revolutions.

Political stereotypes I hate.

- Feminists = Man haters/militant/unattractive/lesbian/seeking special treatment.
- Anti war = Traitor to country, hippy, wimp
- Pro choice = Murder

Probably has more to do with the fact that conservatives shoot whatever offends them and a little more lax with the law.

Exactly! I'd gladly eat both. :P

Why would we not eat pigs
When we would not eat cats?
If a cat is raised to be eaten
Maybe we should honour it’s purpose
Maybe they taste just as good
