Not really, i could point out how native shamans used to "cure" their patients when the rest of the community wouldn't touch him. I reckon even Levi-Strauss once interviewed one of the guys, who told him it was all a set up, he hides a little piece of meat in his sleeve, then "pretends" to pull out the infected part that's causing his patient pain. He then asked him why does he consciously does that, the shaman told him that's because that's what he believes in. (and hey, i didn't say the patient always died ^.- )

Though these are, in essence, eisegetical to scripture, I am not going to debate on it. Which of these attitudes is the worst? Greed.

1st Timothy 6:10 NIV, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

Greed is the principle by which Wal-Mart operates. Wal-Mart is evil. Therefore greed is evil.

Actually, Wal-Mart is evil moreso for the ethical treatments it incurs onto others. <.< Greed is the root of their behaviour without a doubt, but that's inherent to lots of other companies that are a bit more ethical in their ways.

I mean, as long as you're patient with your greed... <.<

Although a corporation is considered a legal individual it is not a human being and has no human morality aside from abiding with the legal strictures of corporate law. It is created to make as much profit as is legally possible and greed simply does not apply.

What makes you think rationality is better than irrationality?

Bear mind that if you answer this question with any degree of rationality, you will be using a circular argument because you can't use rationality to justify the use of rationality.

If the response cannot be rational, then it must be irrational. Probably a random quote from Douglas Adams or Richard Dawkin's or Hammurabi.

Well, how about this: irrationality is a sin because it is intuitively true that irrationality is a sin.

Is it rational to say that something intuitively true is true? Not necessarily, it is intuitive to say that intuitions are true. Is it irrational? No. In fact, intuitions seem to precede all demarcations of rational vs irrational.

Therefore, the grounding of irrationality being a sin isn't grounding in rationality or irrationality. :P

Will that work? Or do you think I have slipped in rationality somewhere? I mean, I obviously gave a rational defense, but you posed a rational attack which demands a rational defense, however, I would argue (perhaps for the sake of argument) that reason doesn't have to be accepted as correct to say that rationality is correct. :P

Boring.

Irrationality is what turns sexual attraction into lust. Ambition into greed, hunger into glutony. Not being rational is what leads people into wrath or into thinking that being proud is a bad thing... It is also what makes us fall prey of religious stupidity and conspiracy theories. It is the one and only deadly sin, it can not only kill you, it can make you kill others just out of your mere existence of spreading stupidity everywhere. It is also what lead you to make that lame post.

I would rate Greed and Gluttony as almost equal, giving and sharing are more important to me especially at this time
of year when lot of people have nothing, but alot of people sort of forget that there are people in need year round.

Having the ability and use of reason does not preclude one from committing lust, does it?

I try not to shop at wallyworld anymore, as I have worked for them.

No, I haven't read Microsoft's Halloween documents. Yes, I still use windows. I might switch to Macintosh though, as I heard they are great for gaming...

Lust is what ensures the survival of our species since we are mortal and the only way that humanity can continue to exist is to reproduce(sexually). The notion that lust is a sin is just plain St00pid.....But then again so is the bible. :D

Ah, so it is possible to rationalize lust. You do realize that if survival of the species is what matters, then rape and cannibalism can also be justified likewise?
