Ha! I never knew I was such a sterotype! I am an ultra-liberal, overweight, red-headed pagan woman.

Cool, let's hook up

Also pierced and tattooed. Are those also stereotypes?

Let's call them Merlyn and Amber. She's fat with long red hair and wears velvety Goth frocks. He's skinny with weird facial hair and goes round in Renfest shirts, a black cloak and, when he has an excuse for it, armor and a stonking great sword. They both wear a ton of silver jewelry with arcane symbols. They both have tattoos and may well be pierced. They travel to festivals in a VW camper van festooned with dreamcatchers and unicorns. They're vegetarians and drink herbal tea, but on special occasions they get plastered on real ale, or best of all, mead. She channels a Native American spirit guide and does Reiki healing; he has a strong tendency to strip to the waist and play the djembe. They're both given to waving crystally doodads around at stone circles. And they have a tribe of pagan kids who will be raised on soy milk, put in organic washable diapers and given names out of Celtic mythology.

Now...hubby and I are (fairly eclectic) pagans. We are in fact a fat woman and a thin man - for some odd reason that seems a frequent combination amongst the other pagan couples we've known, not sure why. We both have tattoos, and he has a goatee. I have short red (dyed) hair. I used to do the velvet frock and silver jewelry thing back in my early 20s, but now I'm a bit, um, older and wiser. We don't have a camper van, don't do festivals and have no intention of having kids, and I hate New Agey sparkly-unicorn-faery-wizard-Indian-chief tat. Mead, though, yes please. But the thing that fazes people most is that we eat meat. Not that I won't happily down a good veg samosa if that's what's on offer, but people tend to assume pagan automatically means veggie.

I have, however, met a few pagans who came pretty close to the stereotype, including a priestess who named her kid Taliesin.

Oh, and the dancing naked in the woo-ids thing? Was invented by someone from a much warmer climate, I'm pretty sure. Anyone who dances naked in the frozen UK right now will rapidly be sacrificing their 'nads to the spirits of winter...

Haha, I'm Wiccan and don't fit any of these. However, I do fit the stereotypes of being a lesbian, being a die-hard enviornmentalist, being a vegetarian, and meditating almost daily.

I'm pagan myself, US Air Force, work in computers, die hard gamer, extreme logistician. Average height, fit, shaved head, LOVE eating meat (however, I tend to look more at norse, greek, and egyptian) and have a fascination with death.

I do want my want goatee (Fu Man Chu style, finger thick, long and curly) back as soon as I get out of the AF.

Is that enough of a stereotype breaker?
