So is ear piercing. Circumcision makes for a better cleaner and more healthy penis. Those who are circumcised are forever free of the curse of smegma.

Male circumcision probably occurs too early in a man's life for it to cause psychological harm, as for that individual there will be no recollection of anything different. However, I disagree with the practice, as it is a form of mutilation that is done without the individual's consent, and in general it is a cultural throwback to when we all lived in the desert.

I don't mean to direct this at you but it's something I find weird and ironic. The hardcore christians are anti-abortion because it's alive and everything else but they're all gung-ho about lopping off a chunk of penis from little boys AFTER they've been born and say there's nothing wrong with it (despite it not being "god's design") and the baby won't remember it in at any level.

Brainwashing leads to such irrationalities. :?

Seriously....in abortion they're concerned about the heartbeat and pain and all but with circumcision they consider the baby not even aware of the pain? Sorry but you're most "not aware" when you're not born. When you're born, you're awake to the world and getting your penis sliced up is not a nice welcome to the world.

I can say that I am not cut, nor pierced, nor drawn (tattoos)

The glans penis by default has sensitivity in it. The circumcision will make any contact with this to be very sensitive indeed. Any contact with it while exposed will make everything coming into contact with it very unbearable. Eventually, the sensitivity is sacrificed for comfort.

So - what does this mean for sex?

I notice a few women seem to prefer "cut" men. And they say the foreskin is not very nice to look at. (or something) Maybe they're used to mutilated guys?

The only thing that needs to be cut is the cord from your mother. After that, it should only be anything that needs to be addressed by a doctor.

Pretty much. I'd like to see how they'd react to a guy saying they like the female circumcised look better.

Dr. Kellog (he of the flakes) ran a sanitorium in the early 20 th century where he promote circumcision as a way of discouraging masturbation. That is the origin of circumcision among non-Jewish American males. Half the males in the U.S. are circumcised.

BTW circumcision does not discourage masturbation.

The good doctor also suggested:

Quote:
In females, the author has found the application of pure carbolic acid [phenol] to the clitoris an excellent means of allaying the abnormal excitement.

Well, that's just dumb. Firstly, the idea that masturbation is something unnatural that should be curtailed through an artificial process. Secondly, the idea that removing the foreskin will prevent it occuring. It'll make it less pleasurable and convenient, and make it require more lube, but that ain't gonna stop anyone.

Was that the same sanitorium from "The Road to Wellville"?

A movie version of it, but yes.

I am of a generation that was widely circumcised.

I have often wondered about most of the points made in dissertation you have kindly provided. I find myself in general agreement with it's key points with regard psychological harm and the issue of consent, I certainly feel that it fits the description as being experienced in the same way as any other abuse.
Forget the arguments on the grounds of health or religion, look at it in the light this article casts, try and re-experience it as a child would.

Human beings are developing their ego from the moment of conception, each sensation adding data with which to form a worldview and in turn a separate consciousness, EVERY sensation counts, every thought process becomes part of the fabric of that ego.
I have often wondered if there was a higher incidence of circumcision amongst the male mobs that wander the world I inhabit in a blind and barely suppressed rage that knows no logic - is it the result in part of betrayal and abuse in the infant?
Demographics from social services and justice systems show a high incidence of anti social behaviours resulting from previous victimization, abuse, betrayal...

I think it causes sensitivity in two different kinds of ways.

Those two kinds I'll leave up to you.

Circumcision eliminates sensitivity.

But ear piercing can only be done by consent. Most little girls who have their ears pierced usualy wanted to have it done. I've heard of baby girls whith pierced ears but most places refuse to pierce the ears of babies today because babies cannot give consent.

Circumcision is nothing more the socialy accepted molesestion of both the body and the mind.

Cutting your finger tips will reduce hand infection rates by 10%.

Edit: let me tell you I am uncircumcised as my country was not infested with people trying to save the world of the plague of masturbation. Smegma is as bad of an issue as armpits are : Just another spot of your body you need to wash if you intend to keep healthy hygiene.

Skafather84=>You are trolling. This is just a bunch of BS to get people riled up over nothing. Any time a troll uses the emotionally charged word "mutilation" to describe circumcision, you know that he is lying and nothing else he says is true either. Give it up. I'm not playing your game.

First, the semantics:

mu·ti·late   [myoot-l-eyt] Show IPA
–verb (used with object), -lat·ed, -lat·ing.
1.
to injure, disfigure, or make imperfect by removing or irreparably damaging parts

Next, it wasn't my wording but the wording of an essay I had read and subsequently copy/pasted here.

Circumcision verily fits the definition of mutilation, however. The penis is mutilated from its original form that 99.9% of every male is born with. It's religious mutilation but it's still mutilation and if the tribes who've seen female circumcision banned and decried as mutilation can handle it, you can handle it too since you're assumedly more civil than them.
