Didn't you just get done telling us that you never called anyone racist unless they blatantly were one? Why are you now implying that conservatives, by virtue of being conservative, are likely racist, or at least have sympathy with racists?

I assume you know what the word "subset" means? Perhaps I should have been pedantic and specified that it is a "proper subset." I could go and dig up posts from several conservative-leaning posters here who (while not outright racists themselves, and certainly not like Hanotaux, Codarac, or ascan) do seem to have somewhat of a chip on their shoulders when it comes to dealing with minorities. And the assumption doesn't come by virtue of their being conservative. That would be insane. The impression that they sympathize with racist views comes from their posts.

If you want to judge me, do it based on what *I* say, not whether or not you happen to think I was vocal enough in opposition to a racist.

I was not judging you. You certainly are not one of the ones who jumps to mind as a racist sympathizer in the least.

This kind of broad generalization is kosher why? I'm not working some sort of persecution angle here or anything, I'm just curious.

It really isn't, but it goes both ways I don't see you objecting to such generalizations when they happen in reverse.

The part in bold should be engraved on the doors of PPR as the official response to unhinged posters in general, though sometimes I also like to hand them a shovel, for digging their own grave you know.

I actually don't think Hanotaux was unhinged, I didn't agree with him and thought many of his beliefs were unfortunate if not outright awful, but I could see some intelligence in there underneath all the swagger. When I encounter someone like him, I think of police officers and profiling; they (mostly) didn't take the job in order to hassle minorities, but the environment they work in forms a prism that distorts their view of the world until they themselves are warped in ways that would horrify their young idealistic self taking the job. Hanotaux was military, I've never been in myself and so can't comment on what goes on in there, but I've known an awful lot of vets that don't much care for minorities and so suspect a similar dynamic might be occurring there.

Whatever though, he was still an Aspie, so I at least tried to see past his views. I'm sure I'll get slammed next weekend for not condemning him harshly enough, or trying to engage with him rather than running him off; just the price I pay I guess.

Yes that was a rather rash generalization of conservatives in PPR, but sometimes it gets their attention, as I am not the only one making them. Personally I am fine with free speech, but debate needs to be reasonable on both sides as long as people keep an open mind, unfortunately what seems to happen is that peoples fears do the speaking and they tend to go beyond what is reasonable as his agenda's purpose was inciting hate against others. Having dealt with racial insults I know there can be no reasoning with people like Hanotaux, especially if your one of those minorities he's taking about. Because of this, I tend to avoid certain topics as they are cause me to get too emotional, which tends to make replying to certain topics difficult at the best of times.

I'm ex-military, and I've never had the least sympathy for neo-nazis.

I actually think racist jokes are funny, as long as they aren't nasty, but I think I'm using the term 'racist jokes' slightly differently than you are. I enjoyed most of the Dave Chappelle show. Electric guitar actually does speak to my soul....

(Don't get me wrong, I don't like them because they put some group down, I like them if they're funny. Including ones that put down groups I'm part of -- as long as they're actually funny.)

Sure, although that doesn't really change whether something is an insinuation or not.

Probably you were the wrong target for that particular rant, but that sort of generalization had been bothering me for awhile.

My point actually is that there are very few legitimate targets for that particular rant. There seems to be a belief among conservative circles that liberals will always brand them as racists—this is not true. There are some idiots on the left that will just shout out "racist" at any conservative, but these aren't all that common. Liberals are generally only likely to bring up racism when they actually perceive some amount of racism. This is in contrast to the common conservative tendency to label their political opponents as "socialists," which is a very common habit on the right wing and not restricted to just a handful of idiots the way overuse of the word "racism" is.

I don't think he wanted to be banned so obviously he wasn't going to start throwing racist slurs left and right. I don't know how "unhinged" he'd be willing to act on a completely unmoderated message board.

Another thing, when people criticize someones views as "stupid" it's usually not that the person is lacking in raw intelligence. It's more like their perception of reality is so "off" that it's hard to understand how they cling to those views without being willfully dense. I also find it disturbing that people conflate having a strong wit and/or strong rhetorical skills with being a genuinely insightful/intelligent person. A lot of blowhards are really good at throwing around their knowledge and language ability, yet it's still pretty clear they don't really know what they're talking about.

I can see how being a police officer could make one that way. I don't see how being in the military would do that though, at least not in this day and age. Well, maybe against muslims and Arabs, but not minorities in general. It seems to me like he just grew up in a bad neighborhood with a lot of rough minority kids. That would be somewhat understandable.

Banner banter topic

Darn! An unmentionaable member was banned. Now I will never know the meaning of his username. :P

Many banned members do come back under new names. Watch out.

does WP stand for White Power? I have had it with mods p**** footing it around the raciest, there needs to be a zero tolerance too this language and behavior, it does nothing but tarnish wrong planets reputation.

Neither do Canadian Indian tards who run to the moderators every time someone says something they don't like. Oh and Canadian Metis are the worst, talk about an undeserved entitlement complex with the folks.

oh just for you this has been reported to the mods, I am a proud Canadian and Indian so f*****g deal with it punk

I'm actually a little sad to see him gone. It kind of spices things up to have a mild-lunatic show up and create drama every once in a while. Though, I really doubt he'll be able to come back under a different alias as his views and writing style were pretty unique. He'd have to completely re-invent himself if he wanted to come back under the radar. Unless he can convince a moderator that he was banned unjustly.

My oldest daughter is a member of this ethnic group, and would be offended to have her called a t***.

Please be advised, and you have been warned and reported.

Just stating a fact. This particular ethnic group is notorius for abusing the welfare system in Canada. They are tax exempt from everything, get free university education for their entire undergrads, they are even free to break the laws of the land. I have had it with this particular subgroups entitlement complex, and so are MANY Canadians.

Listen here, I paid for my education and also pay income taxes like most other Canadians, unfortunately being native in Canada attracts resentment and out right hostility from the likes of lowlife bums like you, so shut your hole Sockpuppet

The more I see these threads I'm getting more lost on what an 'ultra-conservative' is, whether that's Jerry Falwell types or just anyone who votes republican? I can agree on Westboros, I can agree on Laura Schlesinger types, if you're going further down the chain and qualifying pretty much anyone right of center though this is really just sounding like a bit of a tantrum - like you're coming off the rails a bit. Three 'ultraconservatives ________' threads in a matter of a few days. Are you feeling alright?
