Plato is reasonable to an extent but he grossly mistook the ability of the nervous system to make abstracts of sense input for some sort of superior reality. Human perception, like any other organism's perception, was developed to be aware of only a small selection of possible stimulating energies. Only those which were vital for human survival.. Other living things are sensitive to a different range of energies and therefore see the universe quite differently. There is no one set of these perceptions that is more valid than any of the others and even with the select set there is a great deal of filtration going on which is below conscious awareness. Awareness of the totality of energies for sensation would probably be totally confusing to a human mind.

The view through a microscope or a telescope is better than the view through the unaided eye sometime.

So true, My nature makes me do that a lot.

But there are times when Gestalt rules, when we have to step back from the brushstrokes and look at the picture instead of the fuzzy dots. I was just saying that on another matter to my nephew this morning.

With all due respect, why default to liberal Calvinist theism rather than deism? Deism is much more parismonious.
