The "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" idea seems that it might have merit. So many churches and grand cathedrals built, all for the purpose of worshipping him. If we remain obedient and worshipful towards him, then he might just let us into Heaven, where we will be obliged to spend eternity worshipping him. If not, it's the lake of sulphur.

I had wondered about that passage too, and traditional portrayals of Jesus.

I think that there may have been some who regarded Jesus as a Nazirite, and Nazirites did not cut their hair.

Maybe Jesus really did keep his hair cut short.

Or, maybe fashions changed from the time of Jesus to the time of Paul. In the 1950s, hair fashions changed radically, from crew cuts to super-long hair. Now, short hair is more stylish, with long-haired men simply making a fashion statement.

I don't think about Jesus too much. What is Jesus to me, or I to Jesus?

That is easy for me to imagine ... just as if you were to tell me your father had sent you to let me know how I could be adopted into your family.

As I see things, he was just as mortal as you and me and he simply lived obediently and showed us (who might care to learn of it) "they way, the truth and the life" made possible for us by the heavenly Father of all.

Many Christians seem to me to make a big mess of all that, but I am relatively sure things are just about that simple. Salvation awaits those who endure to the end, and right fellowship and worship make that possible.

Unfortunately, Jesus in the Bible (especially in John) did not preach the way you believe.

In that verse Jesus clearly said that no one comes to the Father but through him.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Also, in John 3:18, it says:
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

According to the Biblical Jesus, faith in Jesus is necessary for salvation.
