"Caused by Original Sin" is another fundie way of saying "Hopelessly Shameful Curse", and gives them justification for treating the afflicted as a personification of sin, and either casting them out or locking them away.

Wow!
I clicked the link and got a 404 error. Page not found.
So I removed the end bit to get to the home page.
Either it's been hacked or they've taken it down.
It's now called Sweet NJ Events and is all about candies.
Did someone complain?

We are self-centered and egocentric. That's the point of autism.

The founders of that site, and the original poster of this thread, have probably all died of old age by now.
This thread started going on six years ago!

Lol!

I didn't realise I commited the act of necromancy until I read your post, I didn't check latest post date, I blame it on the "Similar Topics" section.

I don't really care what the over-all perception 'christians' have of autism....plenty of them are quite self centered themselves, some even think heavy metal is 'the devil' so yeah how can I be bothered to care what they think of autism when that's already over the top ridiculous.

Well, the thing that I would contend is that we are not so much self-centered as self-absorbed. If an aspie is gotten interested in charity, then don't expect to hear about anything else for 8 months. A lot might get done in that time, though!

On balance -I'd rather have a pastor like that rabbi in that other thread- who says that "autistics are closer to God" than one who says that "autistics are too self centered to be good [Christians, Jews, whatever the faith question is]."

Why blame the site? WP is not responsible for individual opinions of members. Are all members supposed to be silent because someone thinks them ignorant? This would be a very boring site minus all expression of ignorance.

^Who said anything about Wrongplanet?

When the OP said "this site" they didn't mean THIS site (ie Wrongplanet).
I also thought they meant WP (from the thread title) as well until I actually read the post.

They meant "A" site that they had just found on the web. A totally different site for Christian Fundies (which apparently ceased to even exist sometime in the six years since the OP posted it).

I'd like to separate mormons from otter christians because I think if a LDS member were to try and write about autism, they'd be less rude.

Otter christians..?

Yes, they chew on the wood of the true cross.

Those are "beaver christians".
"Otter" christians are a different kind of aquatic mammal- the ones who eat the fish on the bumper stickers.

I think some of you need to grow some balls, but then again maybe lack of balls is part of autism... I don't see anything wrong with the quote in the OP, in fact I found it rather interesting and possibly astute. Thanks for the link, will check it out.
