I would have to ask a jew.

Oh it turns out i lived next door to an israeli for 5 years. It turns out that he thinks his friends and family are completely nuts for staying in haifa.

Knowing the difference topic

Legitimate, reasoned criticism of a government is not the same as an all consuming desire to wipe out an entire country and its people. AntiZionists will often speak of eliminating the country of Israel but what is certain that should this happen more dominoes will fall, and other countries will also suffer. Nothing happens in the world in isolation, as there are always repercussions, sadly.

If Palestinians think there wiould be paradise for them there in Palestine should there be no more Israel I think they are more than just deluded. Be careful for what you wish.

What "dominoes" would "fall", and to whom would these dominoes fall?

Domino effect scenario topic

What I mean by this is that when there are no actual Jews, another scapegoat is chosen, and if the Palestinians think for one moment that the dominant Arab/Muslim countries would let said Palestinians keep Israel for themselves then these poor deluded souls would be wailing from here to kingdom come that they wished the Jews had never been eliminated.

Some deserts are definitely more barren than others, sadly.

Disolving the state of Israel [a dumb idea however attractive] does not mean a genocide the two are not implicit.

As for being 'anti zionist'? I am opposed to zionism just as I am 'anti-nazi' and 'anti-racist', does this make me 'anti-aryan/German' - no! So why is opposing their Jewish equivelant always lead to the 'anti-semite' accusation? it is moronic and dishonest and plays on holocaust discomfort.

Yes and they can choose to integrate themselves anywhere they choose to live. Zionism is a racist political nationalism and belongs in the 19th century where it began. European Jews have no claim on semitic lands other than that of an invader [they chose not to integrate as immigrants].

Integration is often times impossible because Jews suffer persecution . So for that reason they need their own country. And of course land has to be invaded so it can be settled.

Two ways to look at Zionism topic

You can support a homeland for Jews to govern (as mandated in 1948) that grew out of the European Holocaust or the Biblical notion (which has not yet come to pass as it needs a Messiah to fulfill it). The second sentence tells is how the UltraOrthodox Jews see it. The first is understood. To be against a homeland for Jews is the stance taken by many antisemites, though it is not exclusive to them. In the second instance it is the fanatical Jewish religios who do not recognize the state of Israel because there was no Messiah involved. Odd, many live there, and I wonder about their fate if Israel ever ceased to exist. 8O

To dump Jews from your country to just get rid of them ( for example, the Nazi Madagascar Plan) is not Zionism. Neither is Nimbyism (Anywhere but here). Both are defitintiely antisemitic ideas/behaviours and can be seen also as annihilationist.

I really don't know much about Israel or Israeli life, but don't the secular Jews really quite shun these ultra-orthodox Jews and their trains of thought?

Some do, some don't. Mostly I don't take these people too seriously.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that it's not zionism itself that offends but zionism centered on a disputed territory instead of, say, the eastern seaboard of the united states.

No Anti Zionism is a response to human rights abuses committed by the IDF and Israeli settelers against the Palestinians. Its a rejection of supporting an apartheid state that spends its money on walls to keep out arabs and occupy the west bank to try to force out arab families

I think that not all people know what "Zionism" even means.

I think that it means, as its basic definition as understood today, to refer to my basic right to identify myself as part of the Jewish nation, and have a place to be my homeland. I don't care about a "Jewish state", as I'm an Anarchist. I think that people have the right to see some place as their home, and we Jews should have the right to see Israel as our home.

And that's all. It says nothing about the occupation, or capitalism, etc., in fact Zionism was at first mostly socialist, but nowadays even "left" parties are mostly capitalist.

Being Zionist is not the equivalent of being a Nazi, for crying out loud.
I'm not saying if you're not a Zionist you hate Jews, but being a Zionist doesn't mean being a Nazi, and the fact that Europeans think so at times, well, that makes ignorant Jews to hate the Europeans, because they call their right to self defense as "Nazism". Zionism merely says, again, that the homeland for Jews is Israel, and that they are a nation. It says nothing about slaves, perfect beings, genocide, or whatever. It doesn't say that if you're not a Jew you're inferior. Herzl, the first Zionist, was married to a non-Jew. And just for you to know, in the times of the British Mandate the right-wing fascists were called "Revisionists" and their ideology "Revisionist Zionism", because it was against traditional, socialist, Zionism.

I'm an Israeli who's against these things you wrote, but still not an Anti-Zionist. Zionism doesn't mean all of that violent despicable s**t.
