But if the same Bible verse is quoted against the "Christian", then he or she will find some excuse (possibly another Bible verse) that mitigates the application of the first verse against him or her.

You're making the fundamental mistake of ignoring context, and assuming that quoting a single sentence by itself is a good way to understand things.

You are making the common mistake of assuming that I don't know what I'm talking about, Christian.

Of course most christian mumblers will just say something like, "we are all sinners".

Putting words in your opponent's mouth is not an effective argument.

If you think any of the arguments in the article are any good, by all means quote them or restate them. But after a massive blunder like they made, I'm not going to bother with the article itself.

There is a link there. Read it. I'm not your mommy. If you don't want to read the link the OP posted, then what are you whining about?

In point of fact we ARE all sinners.

There is some room for maneuvering:

people who do not have a conscience may not be sinners; people who know the Law but are unaware of the Lawgiver may not be sinners; people who tear up the master punch card thinking it is just a class card may not be sinners [though as counterweight someone who tears up a class card believing it is the master probably IS a sinner.]

But in any case:

Everybody outside Christianity need to understand [and some people in what is assumed to be Christianity need to be told]: the Bible is not a reference book listing Things to be Done and Things to be Avoided.

Certain streams of Judaism and Christianity and Islam try to make it so - it appeals to a certain kind of mind. But it ain't. IN fact the Christian at least is specifically told:

It is NOT possible to live following even the rules you can actually find in the Bible. Let alone the add-on rules like fish on Friday and ducks are fish and don't whistle on Sunday.

We are told not to bother trying. We are told, in fact, to walk humbly without God and repent and get up when we stumble.

As it happens, I am a divorced person, happily and productively married to a divorced person. A union which has been blessed by God and which was engineered by God and is maintained certainly not by our own power. And we are both most definitely Christgians, albeit with slightly different paths and preferences and understandings.

So, Am I a hypocrite? [We will not even open the question whether Herself is a hypocrite - she is not and I will black the eye of the first mdudu who says a sword agin her]

No. I am not a hypocrite. Years and years agone - I was brought to a full realization that - engineered by God or not, blessed by God or not - our double post divorce marriage was a sin and an offense.

And I was led to repent most sincerely - not of the marriage, what we got you do not repent of - but of the divorce and the sin.

And the neat thing about Jesus talking to sinners, is repenting and working toward sinning no more is what he asks.

Many do not understand that the Old Testament is the old covenant, and The New Testament is the new covenant.

When someone brings up something from the Old Testament and tries to apply it to today, you might as well and try to apply 17th century English law to modern day America.

If you don't want to understand, you never will understand...

Does anyone want to understand?

No. As has been explained, the article is crap.

No, I criticized your argument. I don't need to assume anything about your knowledge to do that.

For Jews there is only one covenant.

Yes, and for those that know Jesus there are two. The Old has been superseded by the New.

You don't want to understand, do you?

Why is it then that the old covenant gets to be ignored whenever is most convenient for Christians? Wouldn't that be enough proof that they are freaking hypocrites?

Plus the new covenant is not so much better anyway: http://www.evilbible.com/Jesus_Lied.htm

So, why do you call me a hypocrite?

Did you miss the entire point of what I said? Once a law is superseded by a new law, the old law is no longer referred to. There is nothing convenient about it. Do you even know "what" the new covenant is? Actually do you know "who" the new covenant is?

Says who? That Shyster Saul of Tarsus? Would you buy a used tent from him?

And yes I understand perfectly. Christian Ideologues suffering from Chosen People Envy decided to write Jews out of the loop. But God never did.

where does jewish law end and christian teachings begin, after the biblical bans on homosexuality?

christians ARE hyporites most of the time. it is in their nature to say one thing while ignoring the other. don't eat shellfish, yet shrimp is ok. don't eat of cloven hoof, yet hams is the food of choice for christmas. get it?

yes, like putting to death children who 'curse' their parents. no one does that, yet it is there, plain as day, in the bible: leviticus 20:9.

or rape, where the rapist has to them marry his victim because he 'violated' her. deuteronomy 22:28-29. yay god, good one! make a victim marry her f*****g rapist. let's all pray and worship your ass-backwards ass.

since when does leviticus only apply to levites? I have never heard this particular brand of excuse.

You're wrong.

It says this:
Quote:
All of these rules are part of the Old Covenant and of equal import.

If you can say this with a straight face, you don't understand Christianity. I looked at bits and pieces of the rant, but after I saw that, I just stopped. There's no point taking something that far off seriously.

if it's a new covenant, with christianity, then why is the 'old' condemnation of homosexuality paraded around by that piece of trash, Paul?
