That was an accident. If the victim of the shooting chose not to sue Cheney then Cheney is off the hook.

That's a little black and white, isn't it? Can you ever imagine yourself shooting someone in the face, accidentally or not (barring self defense of course) and being "off the hook"? Cause I sure as hell can't. That kind of privilege is reserved for those who are genuinely and legitimately feared.


Hunting is a dangerous activity. Accidents happen. People who go hunting ought to know this.

He was hunting quail in a stocked reserve. And regardless of the activity, shooting people in the face has repercussions, which do not generally involve being apologized to.

It all depends on what your political connections are worth to you.

If Cheney were a black man, he'd have the fuzz in his face, they'd bark orders, he'd be accused of resisting arrest and later of battery of an officer, attempted murder and get LWOPP.
