I don' tknow which option to pick here. It's "wrong" when unnecessary but it's "right" when there's a medical problem.
I agree and would also point out I have had my uncut penis for nearly 46 years without having any hygiene issues.
Also speaking as a gay man, cut ones aren't as attractive to me as uncut ones.

That doesn't mean I think it's right.

It's all the same excuses I hear from the Muslim clerics when it comes to circumcision: Cleanliness, less diseases...bla bla bla...

Yet we are people who wash our things with water (using bidets) after toilet use, so really the cleanliness shouldn't be an issue.

There are reasons why the penis evolved in that way.

Consider the human appendix (apparently useless and a source of infection). Also consider the lumbar region of the spine, very prone to misalignment.

quite different, in that the foreskin is in no way vestigial. it continues to be a highly functional and useful appendage to the penis.

also, there have recently been a couple of different hypotheses of ongoing function in the appendix, one of which being to serve some sort of function concerning the immune system. it was a while ago i read about this, might have a google and see if i can refresh my memory.

the spine issue results from modern lifestyles. and besides, you'd hardly cut the lumbar region out at birth, would you?

Really. I have managed to live without my foreskin for my whole life minus 8 days. I have four children of the flesh and 5 grandchildren. Orthodox Jews (which I am not) manage to raise entire football teams of children without a foreskin. So what are they missing?

Not gonna say something ridiculous like "can't really call it living without uncircumcised sex"
But there is a problem with this debate, the vast majority of circumcised men really don't know what they are missing (if anything), likewise neither do the majority of uncircumcised guys know what they would be missing(if anything).

However, knowing that the foreskin contains lots of nerve endings, has a mechanical role in sex, and the glans loses sensitivity over the years if it's uncovered, it's not a huge leap to say that sex is better for uncircumcised men.

I'm not willing to get it done myself and see what's what tbh. I've read a few before and after stories of late life circumcisions, they were all for medical reasons like phimosis, of course circumcision is going to improve their sex lives - there was something wrong in the first place. The case studies also tend to be done relatively soon after the procedure, according to that last account, it can take decades for a circumcised man to lose all sensation. All these arguments aside, there is still no good reason to inflict it on infants.

Any *ahem* experienced women able to comment on the difference? Oh and don't mention looks, looks is also not a valid reason for circumcision.

^^ I am circumcised (without given the choice of course) and yet I am against circumcision.

I find it frustrating how some feminists defend male circumcision btw.

It shouldn't be done to children as they cannot consent. If adults want to do it then more power to them but I suspect the % of people that have had it done would go way down.

very good. but none of this means that a foreskin doesn't serve a purpose.

Whatever the motive the results are good. A clean wick, a happy wick, and a wick less likely to become cancerous, a wick forever free of the Curse of Smegma. When the results are good, who cares about the motive?

To you Christians out there. Your boy Yeshu was circumcised. Think about that. If God Himself was circumcised (on His own orders, by the way) why object to it?

Muslims and Jews do not need convincing.

Atheists and Agnostics should do it simply because of the favorable statistics and the obvious cleanliness.

I'm against it. I'm even more against female circumcision, especially the more extreme versions, but this is bad too.

Big dangly labia are not pleasant to look at either, lets sort that out at birth too, it's cool, they won't remember.
