Does anyone know how many religoins their are in the world?

The question is what is religion, an extension of one’s belief.

What is belief? A part of the thinking process, instinct, an animal attribute.

It depends on your definition of the term, "religion." For instance, would you include Roman Catholics, Protestants (and all of its denominations), Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. in the Christian religion? Are Sunni and Shi'ihs both Muslim categories or separate religions?

Because there is no universal view on what constitutes a religion versus a denomination or sect, the question is very difficult to answer.
