In your mind "doing something constructive" means doing only what the right-wing wants. Besides, in your mind the only "constructive" role of government is lining the pockets of big oil and defense contractors and starting wars.
Big oil? Yeah, like I enjoy paying $3.74 for a gallon of gasoline when I have to drive 50+ miles every day.
No, your boy Barack was supposed to do something about the economy but in the real world that hasn't seemed to have flowed down to us peasants yet.
Sorry to burst your bubble but I think you have some irrational expectations there if you expect the president to control gasoline prices to your liking. You'll be better off writing in Hugo Chaves if that's what you want. Only a socialist president has the power to dictate prices like that. It's also funny that you probably didn't have such ridiculous expectations of Bush when gas prices were skyrocketing in his latter term as president.
We're accessing more domestic sources than ever before but the problem is the new sources are much more expensive to access than the formerly cheap OPEC sources that are experiencing higher and higher demand due to the Chinese and Indians driving more and more these days.
Perhaps we could bomb the rest of the developing world back into the stone age and then we would have all the oil for ourselves once again. We'd also get our manufacturing back. Sounds like a pretty sweat deal.

The only other option is to crash the economy and go into massive deflation. Prices will go down because nobody will be able to afford to drive anymore.
Oh yea. Barack isn't "my boy". Stop hallucinating.
