No, we just believe in thought purity.

I found someone else for you to torment.

Y'know, I am of the opinion that if more people actually got active and neck-deep in activism for the causes they believed in, the Right-Left divide would not be as extreme as it is in the USA now. Too many people on both sides are content on forming their opinions based on what they see in the media. I see both sides as fair game as the result of that culture of sloth that has become pervasive in America. Opinions should not be formed by the media - they should be formed through life experience and personal observations.

Most people I know despise the political system of two opposing cultural extremes having the most power, BTW.

All of us conservatives have pure thoughts.
The only ones that don't are actually liberal spies among us.

Raptor's Buckley quote probably says it best:

Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.
William F. Buckley, Jr.

Though the mentioned attitude is not universal among liberals, it is common enough to make criticizing them a far more satisfying endeavor, as they often are truly shocked that any thinking person could disagree with them. If you happen to be an educated and articulate person who can back up your disagreements with both logic and rhetoric, then the fun just grows and grows. Look at the refusal of many Democrats to admit any of Obama's faults, even well known and unambiguously odious ones like his selectively secret kill list and crackdown on whistle-blowers. This sort of willful ignorance/self deception would be bad enough coming from anyone, but when it comes from people who continuously claim to own both the moral and intellectual high ground? That type of hypocrisy deserves, no demands, a strong slap down. Which I am more than happy to provide, on occasion. :D

well we do have to live amongst them even if we don't choose to. It's not like they turn on TV and get a conservative view, or watch pop culture and get a conservative view, or go to college or high school and get a conservative view. Life is so easy for them, they just hear themselves echoed in Time magazine, or the NYTimes or by Bill Maher, and think that thats just the way reality is.

The Obama administration gets away with what they get away with because they have good intentions, unlike the republicans who kill and starve people discriminately. And... the ends justify the means. There are bigger goals that we have to achieve, the thinking goes, and the morality of those goals are so great that we cannot let hypocrisy, immorality, and civil liberties get in our way of achieving them.

Meaning well, only hearing the world around them echoed to them, and having the ends justify the means pervades much of the left's behavior.

That's a different argument. That isn't making a case for conservatives having pure thoughts and that impure conservatives are just liberals wearing the clothing.

I don't watch TV.

What a load of un-reflective crap. The ends justify the means for neocons as well when it comes to using bombs to spread "freedom" around the world. Lets just say the left and right put different weights on different ends and leave it at that. Not letting people die due to lack of affordable healthcare is simply unimportant to conservatives while showing the world your military might is extremely important. For the left it is the reverse. It seems we both see the others priorities as screwed up and immoral and it's based on a conflict of values, not reasoning. The reality is we have an intractable moral impasse, which is what makes politics so vicious today.

The best thing for the 99 percent of U.S. citizens and residents is for the GOP to separate itself from -both- the neo-cons (who are really Trotsky-ites who have Seen the Light) and the Crony Capitalists who want to disguise an oligarchy with the outward trappings of a democratically operated republic. Those two elements have rendered the GOP as big an enemy of liberty and the pinko stinko pro socialists leanings of the Democrat party. Both the GOP and the Democrat party are Statist proto-fascist advocates and they are no friend to my liberty or yours for that matter.
