It was a joke. If i lived in Israel I wouldnt vote for anyone. Islamist groups like Hamas and ultra Zionist parties like Likud are political turds of comparable size and smell.

Gadaffi once proposed a single state solution of 'Israstine' where Jews and arabs have equal rights and status. I would go along with something like that.

Not funny. Hamas agenda is full bore genecide of the Jews currently living in Israel. It is as funny as rooting for the SS Sonderkamado's in a soccer game played with Jewish head for a ball.

Hamas say many things but the majority of it is hot air. Israel has the military muscle to ensure that no Islamist Palestinian group will get leverage over the Israel state.

The difference with Hamas and the SS is that the SS had the muscle and practical precedence to pull it off.

That is a fairly accurate description of modern day Israel. The average Muslim living in Israel has a hell of a lot more rights than the average Muslim living under Sharia Law.

The Palestinian territories, on the other hand (and Gaza in particular) are cauldrons of civil rights abuses.

So I ask again, what would a *realistic* alternative to Israel be?

No it isn't. Palestinians do not have the right to return. That means if a Palestinian leaves the territory, they have a lifelong prohibition to returning to either Israel or Palestin.. Jews on the other hand, can come and go as they see fit. The land is ethnically segrated in a way that is akin to apartheid South Africa or Northern Ireland with one group having greater living standards and greater access to basic amenities. Islamic culture in Israel is affronted on a regular basis with access to important religious sites being curtailed to arabs.

I agree but the majority of said abuses are carried out by Israel.

I already gave you one but apparently you failed to understand the concept.

If Israel carries towards its path of antagonising Iran and her allies, then a alternative will be imposed, probably a scorched crater.

Let me ask you a question:

1. Does a Muslim living in Israel have fewer/similar/more civil rights than a Muslim living under Sharia?

So far you have presented alternatives being (1) the visions of Gaddafi (actually, his son) and (2) the total destruction of Israel...

It's easy to present an opinion when "I just don't like Israel" is a sufficient argument. It's a bit harder when you actually have to provide some sort of solution...

There is a reason why a lot of people automatically do this: Anti-Zionism = Anti-Semitism. If you can't provide some sort of viable alternative to Israel that does not include the extermination of the Jews of Israel, then there *is* no difference between the two.

Many people thought that "Mein Kampf" was hot air. They found out differently. I take Hamas at its word. They want dead Jews and the Jews dead. Well, there is a solution to that. Kill them all.

I dislike Israel in its current form because of the way it was established, and the way that it continues to treat its neighbours in spite of conventional diplomatic fashions.

Anti-Zionism does not equal Anti Semitism. Some Anti Zionists are Anti semitic but not all Anti Zionists are Anti Semetic any more than all mammals dwell in the sea because whales are mammals.

A joint state solution here does not imply the extermination of the jews. The current Israel state in its present form however, is acting out the extermination of Palestinian culture. Really you are reading message X with intended context Y and arriving at interpretation Z. With no shortage of obnoxiousness, I might add.

Let's see. The State of Israel was declared in 1948 which is 64 years ago (two generations). There are more Palestinians alive and kicking now than there were in 1948. That is some extermination of Palestinian Culture (whatever that is).

I assumed by my past posting character people would know to take it with a pinch of salt.

I apologise if anyone was offended.

Might have something to do with the fact that those 'palestinians' you speak of are Israeli settlers.

Thomas has shown dislike for Jews in other threads. He's just mad that Ireland is irrelevant and its people totally unaccomplished. Especially in comparison to Jews.

Disraeli shutting down an Irishmen:

Quote:
In a heated debate in parliament, O'Connell referred to Disraeli's Jewish ancestry in disparaging terms to which Disraeli responded:

Yes, I am a Jew and when the ancestors of the right honourable gentleman were brutal savages in an unknown island, mine were priests in the temple of Solomon.

Jews as in the religious group, no that is a craven lie.

I can deduce from that fact that while I'm not anti-semetic, you may be a hibernophobe.

if ireland is unaccomplished it may have a lot to do with 800 years of English occupation and the exodus of people to the United States.

America would be nothing had the Irish not moved there.
