NRA goes dark.

Actually, McPherson's book Trial By Fire (which we had used as our text book in the Civil War And Reconstruction class I had taken in college) covers how southern gun clubs had resisted reconstruction and emancipation.

They're clearly waiting for the emotional reaction to die down; they're going to be arguing reason here, and that doesn't go down well with people who are still emotionally unstable. I'm sure they're activating their political networks and preparing to fight any introduced bills, they're just not talking about it yet.

NRA makes statement about Newtown massacre

Not surprising, the original gun control advocates were the KKK.

Realistically, I agree with Oodain; the NRA is demonstrating significantly more class than anti-rights groups and individuals.


You got that right. Some anti-gun individuals are even calling for the killing of gun owners :roll:

I think the NRA just made a powerful statement by simply disappearing.

To elaborate, no one will remember the calls for GUN CONTROL NOW!, but rather that the NRA disappeared for a few days then exploded back onto center stage out of nowhere.

The NRA is hosting a news conference this Friday. I'm waiting to pass judgement on them until after the conference. I strongly suspect that they will be proactive and embrace some forms of gun control. I think they see writing on the wall.

They did not support the 1994 Crime Bill, so I doubt they will support anything similar.

They have probably studied and planned how to handle a Port Arthur scenario for a long time now. They have studies the leading gun control lobbyists worldwide, and Wayne LaPierre and Rebecca Peters once met and had a face-to-face debate. Also, the NRA knows the profiles and personal lives of the directors and lawyers, as well as the inner workings of the Brady center very well since Charlton Heston had the foresight to plant a professional industrial spy there that worked her way to the top of the organization. She was discovered just as SCOTUS was ready to begin the arguments in the Heller case.

Only will strengthen the GOA as the only no compromise gun organization in America
