Due to shortage of women in China a lot of the men end up having to marry women from neighboring countries like Vietnam Korea Laos Thailand Mongolia Burma Nepal Indonesia and even Japan.

They're beating single American men to some of the best women in the world.

it looks like they have it under control. even the first article you linked made it clear that there weren't actually any leftover women - it was just a product of the Chinese propaganda machine.

...What she was really pointing out was just how much better today's Chinese women have it. Thirty years ago, a marriage certificate was a passport into adulthood. "Until you married, there were no basic human rights. No right to have sex before marriage. No house allocated by your danwei [government work unit] before marriage." Today those barriers have crumbled, with rising sexual freedom and a booming private real estate market. Why marry unless you find someone just right? "The future is different," Wu predicted, waving her arms for emphasis. China's big cities will be filled with sheng nu. "Those who can bear the shortcomings and sufferings of men will get married," she concluded. "Those not, single."

...All this grand theorizing was not remotely what Sabrina, a slender 26-year-old with sexy librarian glasses, wanted to hear....Sabrina was there because she truly wanted to get married, and by her own anxious calculation, she feared she had about one year left. She had a graduate degree from a good university, held a respectable job in marketing, and was reasonably attractive. It had never occurred to her that finding an appropriate partner would be a struggle. Did I know any unmarried men? she asked. And if so, I should probably tell them she is just 24.

It's OK, you can still just reheat them and they'll taste just fine. Unless they're breaded, then they kind of suck, but a bottle of Buffalo sauce will take care of that.

However, if you review the Chinese women who signed up with the company--not much in the way of A-Quality women. Leftover women, yes. But, more like the leftovers of the leftovers. A lot of divorced women in their 40s who have one kid, and a basic high school education.

The 27-year-old A-Quality Leftovers are most likely enjoying their Sex in the City libertine lifestyles, and see little point in marrying a 60-year-old American with a bit of money to burn.

I had no idea there were that many divorced women in China...are you sure this is accurate information? Seems like most Chinese women who are looking to get hitched are young and never been married and if they are good looking, they might try for a rich foreigner. Why not?
