Even recognizing that the hierarchy in Rome, as well as members of it's clergy, had collaborated with the Nazis wasn't officially spoken of till John Paul II. As I understand it, the Vatican still keeps it's files on the infamous Pope Pius of the Nazi era under the proverbial lock and key. That's not to say that there weren't brave Catholics who lost their lives for trying to save Jews and others.

Bishop Roncalli, later John 23 (and may I say of blessed memory). He put his life on the line to help Jews get away from their Nazi persecutors. Not only that he aired out the Catholic Church thoroughly and got rid of the Baltimore Catechism. He also stopped pining the crucifixion of Jesus on the Jews.

Many of the steps that John 23 took are being undone by the Panzer Pope.

Of the Panzer Pope I would wish he would say "amen!" instead of "jawohl!", and address the Lord as "mein Herr" instead of "mein Fuhrer"

I was hardly a fan of John Paul II, but this new guy is really making me miss him.

An almost literally decomposing inveterate dribbler versus a sinister looking ex-Nazi. The competition is immense.
