Do aspies generally dislike conservatives?

Generally speaking, I neither like nor dislike conservatives.

My family is liberal and democratic, but I have no political preference.
There are some things conservatives say that I disagree with, and other things that democratics say that I disegree with as well.

My parents both don't like conservatives, but I don't think with my parents' brains, therefore I am neutral.

In the past I was told by democratics that I am too conservative to be a democratic and by conservatives that I am too democratic to be a conservative.

I'm puzzled by conservatives more than anything.
Conservatives should be for the environment, there is no more conservative value than conservation, but very few of them are.
They should be cautious about foreign affairs but most of them in my experience want to go "nuke the a-rabs."

"Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change."

They generally attempt to put a financial value on everything.
Trees = money,
Land = money,
Mineral or energy resources = money.
Wild plants and animals - Is there a market to domesticate them, sell their body parts or eat them? If the answer is 'NO' then tough sh*t.

I tend to vote democrat more often than republican these days (although 10-15 years ago I leaned more toward republican). It has nothing to do with me trying to get government money (although the government does pay my salary). I have some fairly utilitarian beliefs, and feel that democrats (currently) seem to be addressing issues affecting large groups of people who could really use the help, which in the long run is best for the nation as a whole. They do tend to go overboard at times. The problem I have with republicans at the moment is the fact that they seem to spend the majority of their time promoting extreme religious values as something that should be put into law, as well as the fact that they place a higher priority on repealing Obamacare than anything else (39 failed votes to repeal the ACA and counting).

I guess growing up in poverty and always living among the lower socio-economic neighborhoods has helped put a face on those who need assistance rather than just looking at them as lazy, priveliged, or money-grubbing. I have met quite a few people who take advantage of government assistance, but they are not the majority. And I have also seen plenty of middle class people who game the system (and plenty of examples in the media of abuses from the upper class), so it is by no means a problem isolated to the poor.

I stopped being a Pinko Stinko Commie Loving America Hating Liberal long before I was diagnosed for AS.

I've been a Republican most of my life after being raised by Democrats. I'll tell you what changed that for me.

When I was a teenager we lived in TN. My stepfather worked the rail cars and warehouses unloading food pallets by the train load. If one was damaged, they usually split it up because it couldn't be sold. Then it became illegal.

When I moved up to WV. My grandmother and I were discussing all of the dented cans they throw away and she told me, there's a real easy way to see if the seal is broken or not. Brush the can with soapy water and it will blow bubbles or hold it beneath the water.
I told her about the pallets and stuff and said that if it hadn't been for that food we probably would have gone hungry. The job didn't pay enough.

I said, "Nanny, why don't they let people buy those dented goods. Like maybe set up stores with just dented items in it. The poor could pay reduced rates or volunteer to work so long and get free food in return. That way, they could retain their dignity instead of being on foodstamps and being treated like dog doo."

She being the Democrat that she was, said, "Why don't you write Rockefeller and introduce yourself. We went to school together and I think he needs to hear your ideas."

So I did and I emphasized the idea that it should be criminal to throw away all of that food and that the laws making it illegal to get it or buy it should be changed. I got a personalized letter back from him. He was governor at the time. I was so excited. At least, until I read the letter. He basically said, Thank you for writing. That's why we have the foodstamp program.

I got angry and told my grandmother that his dismissal was a snotty arrogant way of saying, your letter wasn't even important enough to read and I'm too busy to mess with a teenager's ideas. So I fired off a letter and told him so.

He sent me back an application for food stamps and a pamphlet on the benefits of foodstamps. I told my grandmother that I would never ever vote for a Democrat when I got old enough to vote and I haven't.

So I became a Republican and now, even though I'm still registered to vote that way have come to feel the same about them as well.

I'm a Constitutionalist. I believe we ought to get rid of the majority of the politicians and throw them all out and start over. I was a Ron Paul supporter.

I want my freedom back. Every time they make a law to "help us" it ends up regulating our lives somehow, putting us in little cages like little animals. People in third world nations enjoy more freedoms than most people in industrialized countries and as soon as the globalists start coming in and "helping them" the politicians start taking away their rights.

Joel Salatin says it best, "Liberals have no brain and Republicans have no heart." I'm still halfway through his book, "Everything I want to do is illegal". I love it. It's honest.

Yeah, that's about the response I would expect from a limousine liberal.

I don't dislike conservatives,just the policies and beliefs of some.My bio mom votes a straight Republican ticket,the majority of my family votes that way.I'm the black sheep.
I guess I should get kicked to the curb because I get SSI.
But maybe my family pays enough taxes to cover my ass.

IF Congress would keep their paws out of the Social Security funds (taxes) there wouldn't be a problem with it. In fact, everybody would probably receive larger checks; however, they keep "borrowing" from it and never pay it back. In other words, they steal from people. Working people, old people, survivors including children and disabled people. And they don't even have enough of a conscience to feel guilty about it.

I'm on survivors benefits, my husband is on SSDI. My benefits are supposed to be okay until 2025 or something. They keep changing the date; however, recently Senator Coburn did a hearing and stated that SSDI would be greatly reduced in 15 months.

So, I went back to the Social Security site and they had a different statment that they did a year ago. It changed. Now, supposedly there are two different funds and the dates change.

I called up the guy responsible for the press release on the Soc. Sec. website and asked him why there was a discrepancy between what they stated and Sen. Coburn. He told me to call the FL branch and I did. That guy got royally angry with me and asked me for the links. Not only to the youtube video but the government website. There's some documents to read that were submitted before the committee.

So I called my Congressman and was told that in order for them to answer that question, my husband (on SSDI) needed to fill out of freedom of information release form!! !!

Since I forgot all about having him fill out the form until now I suppose I need to get on it.

Social Security should never be used to fund anything other than what it's intended for. I'm paying into it and I expect to get paid back some day.

but conservatives, by and large, have [at best] indifference, or [at worst] outright antipathy towards anybody not wealthy and light-skinned like themselves. black conservatives like Clarence Thomas [who seem to hate the bulk of other colored folk] as well as conservative working-class folk who consistently vote against their own best self interest, are just one of life's mysteries.

I voted Democrat, and have been a liberal, long before I was ever diagnosed with Asperger's. I think one reason why I shun conservatives is because growing up, I was always the target of jocks and bullies, always the odd man out, and so I've always sympathized with those who didn't have enough money or power, or who were of the wrong color. Conservatives seemingly have taken up the role of the bullying the little guy who I identify with the most.
