The 6th amendment is in tatters. The Supreme Court wrecked it in the late '70s in a clear case where a prosecutor arranged successfully to give someone life without possibilty of parole over an extremely minor offence to punish him for refusing to plead guilty.

It's Bordenkircher v. Hayes.
