No, I am not going to take sides when it comes to this conflict. The palestinians hide just as many skeletons in the closet as the israelis do. They don't have my sympathy either.

Really? You sure sound as if you're backing the Israelis so far.

Its impossible to make a fair analysis of this conflict unless you are able to contextualise all factors. Unlike the Israelis, the Palestinians are fighting a losing war where their existance is at stake. Its their rightful territory and they have the right to liberate themselves using all necessary means. Whether or not that means abducting Israeli combatants is not for me to say.

Sure sounds like you are backing the Palestinians so far.
The way in which you "contextualize" the situation seems to be a little one-sided don't you think?

I have decided that I am not going to give too much attention to this atrocious conflict until the day that both the Israelis and he Palestinians are going to blow my mind by coming up with an effective and peaceful solution. Something that is not going to happen in my lifetime at this rate. Since both sides don't seem to be open to reason there is a not a lot anyone can do, which is a disppointment in itself. Besides, does it really help when ordinary people who don't even live in the region loose themselves and choose sides as a result? I don't think so. There are a lot people in this world who use this conflict as an outlet for their own frustrations and the fact that they feel alienated in the society they live in.

The only obligation and right that both the Israelis and the Palestinians have is to solve this mess. Preferably without shedding even more blood.

I clicked on the link and read the article which was actually quite interesting.

To my astonishment I saw the profile picture of my own facebook account at the end of the article with the possibilty to post a reaction via Facebook. There is probably a perfectly reasonable explanation for it but if that is not the case I want you to know that I don't appreciate it! That big yellow BBC logo that you are using doesn't impress me either. I have the right to refuse to favor one side over the other with regards to the Israëli-Palestinian conflict and to remain as objective as I possibly can. The only thing you are trying to do is to win my over to your side which is not going to happen. Besides, what difference would it make!

It's nothing to do with Thomas!

It's also pretty widespread on the internet to have comments sections powered by Facebook, to prevent anonymous comments (which are usually more vitriolic). If you're already logged in to Facebook then you'll see that sort of thing everywhere.

Apparently, 3 of the six arrested individuals have now confessed (though not formally in court) to killing Mohammad Abu Khdeir.
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340 ... 64,00.html

They apparently also tried to kidnap a 9-year old boy the day before the murder.
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340 ... 87,00.html

The alleged perpetrators - if convicted - could perhaps face life without parole due to a recently passed Israeli law.
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340 ... 20,00.html

Several appear to be minors, but last time I checked this does not guarantee the chance for parole in Israel. And the Knesset previously pre-emptively passed a law in 2001 preventing any parole for Yigal Amir, the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.

Mahmoud Jihad, Muhammad Dudeen and Mustafa Hosni Aslan are three examples of Palestinians killed during this crisis not mentioned by the mainstream Israeli press.

I could probably find more if i tried, i can't keep up with Israel's insatiable bloodlust.

Two other Palestinians were seriously wounded in the confrontations.

It is a fact that the palestinians are severely mistreated in Israel but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Palestinians are just harmless victims.

It's a long and complicate story in which action reaction plays an import role. A phenomenon that usually leads to the continuation of conflicts and war like situations. It's a vicious circle that has to be broken in order to move ahead. Both Israel and the Palestinians haven't been able to do that. Instead they have resorted to means like violence, oppression, terror and intimidation among other things. It's like watching two spiteful, violent and scared kids fighting on a playground.

...With the exception that one kid is far larger and stronger, has rich parents and all the best toys, while the other kid is far smaller, far weaker and comes from a poor neighbourhood.

Its not an equal fight, it is a bully-bullied relationship. Anyone with eyes and an iota of honesty can see that.

Looks like justice will be served after all. When are Hamas going to launch their investigation regarding the murder of the three Israeli teenagers, and punish them accordingly?

Only Israel is expected to act civil. Their enemies can do whatever they want.

A biased article. I can't speak for the entire world, but if a Palestinian is shot by Israeli forces, it's all over the tabloids here, and the tabloids clearly favour Hamas. For every article about Iran, Saudi-Arabia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, and Syria, there are ten about the bad stuff Israel does. It can be compared to the passion plays in the dark ages, except that "look what the jews did to Jesus!" has been replaced by "look what the zionists did to Palestine!". You could kill many Israeli civilians before the tabloids cared; you only heard about the kidnappings of the three Israeli students because one of them was actually an American.

No article in any Scandinavian tabloid I can think of mentions Hamas' frequent use of human shield, their treatment of homosexuals and women, or anything like that. Stories that are far more newsworthy than anything Israel does.

The [S]anti-semites[/S] anti-zionists who do not live in countries where terrorist attacks are frequent.

Alright...however how do you define and anti-semite? just someone who disagrees with how Israel handles the current conflict....or someone who actually hates people for being of semetic decent? That said I certainly cannot take the veiw that only Israel should be expected to act civil, both sides need to do that....but if each side keeps acting un-civil on account of the other acting un-civil its never going to end now is it?

Also I thought zionism was a bad thing even according to jews....or maybe I am thinking of something else...
