Humans are morphadites. Confused, and unsettled, on an evolutionary path. Rise or fall, the rest of our story has not been written yet.

'Prometheus': humans look they way they do, because abiogenesis "seeded DNA" came from aliens who look like us.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: other animals like dolphins and mice are aliens to our world.

That's what they want you to think. In reality mice run the planet, including NASA.

Can anyone else identify the payload in the background?

It's a dodecagon? A space station for those really big space mice?

What the heck???? Animals are stupid. Even monkeys. Other animals have a better grip on instinctive behaviors. Our instincts are unevolved, and all out of whack. There are no aliens from other planets. If there were, some redneck would have shot one by now. We evolved from pigs. The reason why our brains are soo big is from eating animal fat, and especially very high carbs from prepared foods. When something like us started cooking foods, our evolutionary development took off like a bat out of hell. Now we don't know WTF is going on.

The reason we walk upright on two legs, and have dexterity of the hands is simple. It is the path of least resistance to get what we want.

It's LDEF (Long Duration Exposure Facility)

We marvel at our own species, pretty much because we're programmed to.

As for the space dimension, we look up because it has always had more meaning to the human brain than to any other species. No other species has had the intelligence to think about what's up there.

Nonetheless, yes there are some bizarre aspects to life, the universe and everything. Time to start up the infinite improbability drive and go find out. (Either that or switch on the SEP field.)

Doesn't it strike you as incredibly odd other species do not? Do you think it is just coincidence or...could it be there were others humans just wiped them out long ago. How is it we are the only ones? We are on the verge of wiping out a massive amount of species now so why would skeptics think we were not capable of it before?

Another odd thing, whenever humans show up, species go extinct. Like, for instance, the Wooly Mammoth did fine in North America until humans began migrating then they disappear. You don't see that so much in other mammals, do you? This is what I mean by humans being out of synch with their environment, more so than other species.

Not at all. The more intelligent the species, the more curiosity they show - and other such traits. Some have specialist minds, like the jumping spider who will work out a plan of attack, best vantage points etc, long before jumping. Other species show sneakiness and other socially amusing behaviour. They higher you go up our own ancestry, the more curiosity and investigative the animal becomes.

I don't know of anyone who is "skeptical" about the species we've wiped out, and continue to wipe out. As for our ancient cousins, many of our ancestor species were wiped out because evolution favored the homo sapiens, just as it did with other species.

Okay here's my point. Take a look at an elephant's brain. Compare it to that of a Brachiosaurus. The elephant brain is much larger yet these two animals pretty much do the same thing: forage, mate, raise young. Not sure if the Brachio live birthed like the elephant or laid eggs. They are not complicated animals and behave relatively similarly despite the difference in their brain size. They both walk on all fours.

Now let's look at a Meerkat. This little guy is capable of sitting and walking on hind legs yet it's brain is relatively small. It is a carnivore, too.
Also, there's other species of primate that walk on their hind legs yet they are pretty much the same and do not do a lot of evolving. They just stay the same. So? What is the answer.

You see, walking on two legs takes more than brainpower. Squirrels do it just fine, too, and so do almost all birds and some lizards. Elephants are pretty smart animals, more or less like apes, whales and dolphins. It simply isn?t physically possible for them to walk on two legs. Don?t you find it awesome that they evolved trunks in order to manipulate things, since they can?t have primate-like hands? They?re descended from much smaller mammals which had nothing like that. A large part of their cerebral cortex is devoted to controlling their trunk, about as much as we devote to controlling our hands. And they have to learn to use it for different tasks, too; it?s not innate.

Many of the animals you?ve mentioned have shown traits once believed to be exclusively human, like tool use, learning, complex social structures and culture: different populations learn to live in different ways in different places, and teach that knowledge to their offspring.

As much as it might seem from our individual, short-lived perspective that they?re ?not evolving?, human societies have also remained almost stagnant for centuries or millennia countless times, when circumstances or previously developed customs didn?t favor innovation. Also, there probably is no ecological niche for more than one species with human intelligence, since we?re not exactly promoting it in other animals. But, if you look just a little farther into the past, you see most land mammals did change quite a bit between glaciations (the last of which ended about ten thousand years ago) and interglaciations.

My point doesn't involve debating the intelligence of elephants - more about their priorities which are firmly earth-bound. They spend most their time tending to earthly matters. They do not think about sky objects or spend an inordinate amount of life span constructing in order to satiate this obsession like humans. An elephant will roam the day through without shelter and not think twice. It knows it is home.

They seek shelter but they haven't evolved to create permanent shelters AFAK. Other animals do in fact create structures and create tools for example Ravens

From our destructive behavior toward each other and our surroundings, as well as our inability to survive by our own devices, we humans do seem to be strangers in our own world. We were supposed to have been kicked out of the garden (nature?) a long time ago.

A raven will build a shelter - a nest I presume. Birds, in general, do this. However, it is much more a necessity each bird endeavors on their own. One bird will not pay another to build a nest then run off to shrine to pray to the Alien Sky God. The bird is quite capable of finding the sky without God.
