A measure that allowed legalization of recreational pot was approved, making Oregon the third state to legalize recreational pot.
don't you wanna know what GMOs are hiding in your food?
There's already a federal labeling system in place, so I don't know why people in Oregon wanted another one just for Oregon.

I have not seen any federally required gmo labels on any of the food I see at the supermarket.

It's more than that....
In my state and 4 others, people voted for Democratic policies (raising the minimum wage) but they still voted for Republican politicians.
People vote for those they perceive to be LIKE THEM.
The Democrats have lost the American working class.

which is another way of saying, "we have met the enemy, and he is us." when will the working class get wise and vote for pols that help them and not make life harder for them?

It won't be until certain other factions on the left stop making fun of them and belittling them for things like going to church and believing in god.

no offense to you, but to me, that sounds a lot like an example of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face, IOW voting for a guy who will injure you because the good guy wasn't friendly enough. or something like that.

Unfortunately, people are not rational.
People vote for those they think are like them or those they aspire to be like, not those who have their best interests at heart....
I know it's extremely unpalatable to many, but democrats would do much better in the south if southern democrats were allowed to oppose things like abortion and gun control. THEN, you could actually get poor southerners to vote democrat on economic issues.
But, as long as the democratic party is branded as the party of abortion, gun control, and godlessness, it will never carry the south, and it will lose more and more of the mid-west.
Sad but true.

And what is so wrong about GMO labeling?....though as far as I knew it is already allowed just not required everywhere. But are you saying GMO labeling isn't even allowed in your state?

I did vote, but feel like voting for any candidates was kind of pointless...none of them really appealed, just went with the ones who seemed more reasonable but meh probably should have just stuck to voting on the issues. Voted for GMO labeling on food, for something about public having access to what is discussed on school board meetings and such and have more imput, and against a stupid thing about entirely banning abortion.

Neither party can do that. Our system is built to fail and the chief responsibility for that is upon the lobbyists. The idea of government itself is a necessary evil. That is why I believe we should limit it, because it inevitably rears it's ugly head from time to time and there is a great cost when that happens. Government is amoral. It has no accountability. It feeds indiscriminately and it takes just as much ground as it can but not an inch more.

why, it'll just increase prices, and guess what gmo or not poor people can't chose cause its food is needed to live and we have tiny budgets.
also it would exempt lots of stuff including food are restaurants so you could have a place making food from food with gmo and not know it. if you don't want gmos just buy all the organic stuff. having 1 state out of 50 requiring special labeling will raise costs.

There is absolutely no reason why it would raise costs, that argument could be used any form of labeling. People have a right to know.

ok so the companies have to have a label for oregon and a label for the other 49 states. so now they have to have two labeling machines. and to processing lines, cause can't send the non gmo labels to oregon on accident. so yeah no way that would increase production cost. and like any good corporation or rich people they going pass the cost onto the consumer not from their profits.
heres a little trick for you. <whispers> most food has gmos in them<whispers> the ones that don't are labeled as organic or nature.
if you want to do it do it federally it'll still raise prices but due to it being all over the nation it will be a smaller increase then just in one state.
also some companies will just fail to afford it and cease sending in their products. food is already going up in price to the point I can't afford things I use to. stouffer's lasagna went from $10 up to $15 in the last 6 months.
