So if free stuff is not provided, then that is the same as "letting someone die" ? Shouldn't we provide free cars to everyone, because someone may die from heat exhaustion? And we need free homes, because people may end up in shelters, and those may not be safe. Everything should be free, because there is always the possibility whatever is not free can cause someone to die.
you are dissembling. it is a yes or no question- DO YOU PREFER the uninsured poor just die? or are you willing to abide by some public accommodation of them? yes or no. there is no middle ground, the poor are NOT going to magically "jerk themselves up by their own bootstraps" and join the fantasy land of horatio alger.

And we need free homes, because people may end up in shelters, and those may not be safe. Sounds pretty damn good to me. But seriously, healthcare is hardly comparable to a car, as people can and will die from lack of medical attention, as opposed to lack of transportation in most cases. What is possibly wrong with the government actually doing something for people, especially the most vulnerable?

They got treatment before Obamacare, and will get treatment after Obamacare. You represent these people as helpless babies who can't take care of themselves. I don't believe that. Also, seem to have no concern for the people hurt by Obamacare.
I voted for a Democrat, because he promised to eliminate the taxes the Republican created. However, I can feel the anger about Obamacare, because i would be super angry if my employer cut my hours/ made me a part time worker, because of Obamacare.
If your employer did that to you because of Obamacare, you should be pissed at your employer, not at Obamacare. Your employer is telling you they do not value you and your work if they do that, because their actions have nothing to do with Obamacare. They are manipulating you to make you angry at Obamacare because they are cheap.
yeah better to run into bankruptcy and close shop. you do realise that smaller companies can't afford it they aren't making millions and billions like walmart and other corporations are. Many were already walking the line and then adding thousands in medical insurance just pushes them into the deep end. so rather then fire people or close shop they cut back hours. it sucks but i'd rather work go down to 20 hours a week then go to 0 hours a week. my store has a hard time working us the hours we do now if they had to pay for our inssurance I know they'd probably let most of us go.
I am concerned the republicans might f**k with social security now and end up throwing alot of us on the street, but in all reality Obama will just veto any and everything they pass requiring them to get the 2/3 majority so meh. more worrisome is what horrible s**t the out going democrates will pass in the lame duck session.

that is total crap. what they got, was totally unaffordable and bankrupting tertiary care at emergency rooms. I was among them. and NOBODY was hurt by PPACA other than upper middle class people upset that their premiums rose. you are coming from an upper middle class viewpoint, so I can see we will never agree as it is a basic socioeconomic class difference between us. YOU have NO CONCERN whatsoever for working class folks who were totally priced out of primary health care before PPACA. anyways, you voted and got what you wanted [gop takeover of senate] so you have no room to complain anymore. I hope to hell you're satisfied.

They got care? What, at ER's? As a matter of fact, plenty of people either too poor to afford health insurance, or had had preexisting medical conditions were locked out of medical coverage, and had suffered and even died because of it. It has nothing to do with treating people like babies, it's about offering a hand to the forgotten.

no use trying to convince him and his ilk of that, they will stubbornly persist in their hardcore belief that healthcare is a privilege just for folks with lots of $$$$$$$. or worse yet, misfortune has to happen to themselves before they "get it."
Yeah the ACA is great for the absolute poor; they get it free. Sucks for many though.
I'm sure any of those poor people would eagerly swap lives with you anytime you desire, including the work. Being poor is no cakewalk, even with whatever "free" things they get. I don't envy them their free things one bit. I prefer tax money being used to help people rather than killing people and making rich people richer.

(Sigh) I know. Sometimes being right can be lonely.

I voted for a Democrat as I stated in the first post, because the Democrat in my state wanted to cut taxes. However, the Republican won.
Many people are angry and they voted based on their anger. We have seen how the very poor that are cut out of Medicare expansion don't get Obamacare, and face higher medical costs because of it, as well as their Medicare taxes are being used to subsidize other states' Medicare programs.

If I was in that group I would be angry at Obama and vote Republican. Wouldn't you?
Many, many people had their jobs changed to part time, because the government mandated that employers provide them with healthcare. However, people under 40 probably don't think they need health care, so they see this as Obama taking away their income and sharing it will poor people. I would be angry and vote Republican.

Healthcare should be available to everyone. I'm not sure why the USA has a backwards ass system in place and hasn't adopted one like we have here in Canada. Hell, a lot of other countries in the world seem to have the same healthcare we do here, like the NHS in the UK and other countries have great health care (Italy, Malta, Hong Kong, etc)

some pertinent quotes-
*"The most un-convincable man is the one whose paycheck depends on remaining unconvinced". -- H. L. Mencken
*?Neither great poverty nor great riches will hear reason? ? Henry Fielding
*'A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, 'You are mad; you are not like us.' Saying 25, Sayings of the Desert Fathers. Abba Anthony.
*"Don't forget that most men with nothing would rather protect the possibility of becoming rich than face the reality of being poor." - John Dickinson ("1776")

but it was republicans who were entirely behind the refusal to expand Medicaid in those states. I blame republicans for this. and when I was middle class I did not begrudge the poor getting a few crumbs thrown at them. how could I do otherwise and be right with myself? I was poor, then middle class, then poor so I know how it feels from those two angles. at least part timers can now get health insurance when by and large, before PPACA that was not the case most of the time.

because in America the working class/underclass is a scapegoat for all our ills. we divide our people into "useless eaters" and everybody else. health care delivery before PPACA was strictly a privilege for those with abundant fundage. there is little sense of community south of the border, it is more often than not "every man for himself" at least in spirit if not in law. rampant individualism and all that.

The Republicans have won, but they haven't gained much; their majorities in the Senate and House are slim, and they certainly won't have enough votes to override a Presidential veto--which they almost certainly will need to make any big changes. It's a sad statement about the apathy of the electorate when the party that threw a temper tantrum over Obamacare and tried to shut down the government is rewarded with votes the very next year.
I was poor enough to get medical insurance from the state before we even got with Obama's program, so the ACA hasn't really done anything for me directly; in fact, my premium went up after I renewed my coverage under Obamacare. Try to figure that one out.
In any event, very little will change in these next two years before Hillary marches in. I still won't have anybody I can really vote for. Republicans are still high on the rarified fumes of Reagan hypocrisy--"wasteful government spending is evil and wrong, unless it's our wasteful government spending." Democrats don't understand their constituency; they fail to realize that American "unity" is really just a desperate, savage game of one-upmanship where equal opportunities would spoil all the fun. The Independents are boring dingbats with no distinct vision. And Libertarians live in a fantasy world where "the market" is a magic wand that can cure all of society's ills.
Obama was the only politician who ever gave me something to vote for, and he mostly failed to deliver. But thanks to him I got to stay on my mother's insurance for a while, and I can pay my student loans in increments that I can afford, so I'm grateful for that.
