It is almost impossible to believe she does. She already knows the consequences of going *to* the hospital -- more suffering -- but she is not aware of any "consequences" for not going...and who is to say there actually even are any? Death is inevitable for everyone, war does not end all war and suffering (even if called "treatment") does not end all suffering.

That is because even our adult brains are taxed when trying to sort all the issues. So, the child is allowed to "make her own decision" as long as we are aware we cannot come up with anything better.
